Apparently he never really fit in though, got let go pretty quickly from his post-Yale clerkship and then went on to found the Oath Keepers in 2009. Disbarred by 2015 as he took a case apparently just to recruit, never did any workup on it, missed a hearing, and then just ghosted the court so eventually they disbarred him.
Oh well, looking at 40 years now. Obviously not dumb but
