Whole Foods made a decision that they felt was in the best interests of their company and their customers.
It's not like WF is selling 85% of the lobster harvest, so I don't see a huge impact to the livelihood of the lobster industry, unlike the stupidity that Biden displays towards fossil fuels, daily.

How does an entire political party get blamed for a business decision made by one company its not like they're the exclusive purveyor or this product and with the prices we see there is no shortage of demand for it.
The way everything gets dumped as the Democrats Fault only makes it sound that anyone who votes Republican doesn't give a darn about the long term affects anything may have on anything. Quite the kick the can down the road mentality, let the next bunch deal with it, I want (fill in the blank) now to hell with later...
Whole Foods probably accounts for .0001% of all lobster purchases. Its their business, let them make the decision. If Democrats want Lobster they can go to the normal grocery store where main-stream America goes.
many maine lobstermen, whose families have trapped lobsters for generations, are going to lose their jobs because of this whole foods decision. many families will lose their livelihoods.
So the same lobster traps can be used if the ship harbors in New Hampshire but not Maine?
Hmmm
Yeah. Go figure, huh? Added benefit, NH has no sales tax or income tax so the lobstermen make out much better. On the other hand, the Mainers can cross over the border and drop their traps in NH. Works both ways (except for taxes).
Where I do my shopping, the lobsters kept in lobster tanks come from Canada, not Maine.
The Maine lonstermen can always sell them to the Chinese in China,in fact to celebrate Chinese festival, many were supposed to dine on lobsters in Beijing and all that have to be cancelled due to Cov19,THATS why we see a glut of lobsters in our market
So a politician representing their constituents is a hack for fighting for what is best for their constituents.
I would hope Tim Scott would fight for what is best for South Carolina -- not just tow the party line.
oh wait...blind loyalty -- I forgot we are all about the tribal politics
These are the same hacks that would drive a train over WV coal workers or deny funding for a pipeline (under eco extremism). But when it’s environmental harming whales, the same democrat hacks from Maine defend their interest but what is precious here is that NONE of the other democrats will engage in this hypocrisy. NO other democrats cares about lobster workers, just the whales.
As the whole situation unfolds, the layers of hypocrisy. Read the Maine political statement, which denies science. The letter also bemoans that it’s “unfair to be burdened with increasing federal regulations” *here are some Kleenex tissues*. Now a democrat acknowledges the crushing federal regulations?!? Wow.
If lobster fishing in the waters off Maine was to be totally banned, I'd agree with you. But just one very expensive grocery store dropping them - it probably will have minimal impact. Lobster lovers are going to get their lobster, regardless of where they buy them.
The lobster fishery will continue too. The whales may force a change in their permits, but accommodations will be made with the lobstermen.
The government doesn't want the lobster industry destroyed any more than it wants the whales destroyed.
If Whole Foods made their own decision in this matter, so what? They too have their own concerns.
