You'd have to be a complete moron to think that painting mostly empty land actually means something.

When I lived in Ohio, I voted for John Kasich as our governor. Mr. Kasich did much to reduce the Ohio state income tax, putting a considerable amount of money back into my pocket... for which I remain grateful. Nevertheless, he and I take completely the opposite position on abortion. We managed to find common ground. Miraculous, isn't it?

This can't be done, because even the bluest states have a red countryside, while red states have blue cities. California may be the bluest of the blue, but tell that to people who live in the small towns in the Sierras. Kansas may be utterly red, but what about the people in Topeka, or in the suburbs of Kansas City?

Like those things?

Thank a Democrat.
If Rs embraced those things on a nationwide level they'd win WAY more elections ...
They can't.

Their handlers the donor class will never let them.

Let's be perfectly frank here. The Republican Party is and was the mouthpiece for the very rich and the large multinational corporations. That has never once changed since the days of US Grant.

The core agenda of the party is largely unspoken, but it definitely is never for Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, GI Bill, 40-hour work-week, eight-hour workday, Affordable Care Act, overtime pay, Americans with Disabilities Act or Pell grants. Those things are anathema to the donor class, all of them.

They are also against the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, Truth in Advertising, Product Labeling, Consumer Financial protection, Occupational Safety and Health.

And now, they are against free and fair elections. They can't win them on a nationwide basis so they take what they can, gerrymandering and closing polling places and limiting drop off boxes and shutting down early voting dates when possible. They have tried twice to overturn the republic and they will try again.

Even today, some MAGA voters think they have taken over the party, they THINK that the rich aristocracy of establishment Republicanism have been shoved aside by themselves and their billionaire champion! But those powers are right there where they have always been pulling those same strings. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

People who simply want to be left alone should move to red states.

Everyone will have to make peace with Democrats ruining the country the majority of time and make the best of it in a state which is run the way which matches your own preferences the best.
It would be great if it were that simple. Seattle/King County sends $3 BILLION a year to 33 other counties in the state, mostly in those red areas on the east side. The red counties can't pay their own bills. They need Seattle's money. So while they rant and rave, they have their hands out. I would be perfectly happy to divide the country (and I do think it will happen) but the red parts are going to have to grasp that they need to pay their own way. That includes the Gulf Coast paying their own FEMA costs, rural areas paying for their own internet and hospitals - all of it.

What this has brought us in this country is basically a bifurcated country. It's very simple to understand.

The needs, wants and requirements for the RED areas are not at all the same as the BLUE areas.

The needs, wants and requirements for the BLUE areas are not at all the same as the RED areas.

There is no workable one sized solution for the country, even though the left continues to try to force it down everyone's throats.

Both sides are so far apart at this point and those on the left in positions of power will not stop demonizing those on the right, there simply is no path forward anymore.

We are two completely different countries located within the same borders. We have almost nothing in common. We think differently and at this point, have no respect for each other.

It's over folks. Stick a fork in America. The dream is dead.

America is right of center, not left
America really isn't a red country though. That's why republicans don't win the populate vote in presidential elections. Many red states don't have the population that blue states have. Just in my county alone our population is more than than the population of the entire state of Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota and Alaska.

That's why I stated in this thread the only thing we can really do is make peace with Democrats ruining the country at a national level and simply move to a state which works better for yourself.

For lefties, move to a blue state. For people who want to be left alone, move to a red state.

Separate for good
This is not really new. People have always lived separated lives in the United States.

Even back in the 19th century, Americans who wanted to avoid immigrants and foreign influences moved to rural areas.

This kind of thing has been going on for a long time.

Agreed but it’s not quite that simple. First of all the divide in this country is arguably 50-50 for all intents and purposes. The needs, desires, and lifestyles of those living in an inner city differ greatly from those living out in the country. A guy running a farm does it need some 93 different gendered, woke, Communist liberal creating government and legislation dictating his life. Anymore than it does the other way around. That’s the problem with America today. New York City is telling people in upstate New York who are 85% Republican how they have to live their life.

There is a divide that is irreconcilable in this country.

The extra votes in Los Angeles and New York City is the whole reason for "won the popular vote".
All "won the popular vote" means: LA and NYC are very populated and very Blue.
So...unless one thinks that LA and NYC are the end-all-and-be-all of the United States...it is really no more meaningful than that.
Clinton had 2,864,974 votes more than Trump.
In LA: 2,464,364 to 769,743
Brooklyn: 640,553 to 141,044
Queens: 517,220 to 149,341
Manhattan: 579,013 to 64,929
Bronx: 353,646 to 37,797

So...there ya go.

Except now, we're more mobile than ever. EVERYONE has the same freedom of movement. If one wants to avoid "certain people", it's harder to do.

In alot of cases, such separation was enforced by the law. Now, anyone can go anywhere.
