Seems to me that erasing the border would be a logical step in that direction...no?

If there's no border, then Mexico becomes part of the USA. The U.S. is the bigger, stronger, & wealthier of the 2 countries, so DC's essentially annexing Mexico. Who is going to stop DC?

We are taking Millions of Mexico's current & future productive workforce participants, by offering them free & easy entry, higher wage employment, free healthcare, & free education. We are essentially stealing (or buying) a significant portion of Mexico's workforce.

The USA's birth rate is too low & falling, so to grow the economy and tax revenues, DC needs more taxpayers. DC's unable & unwilling to cut excessive spending, so it must increases tax revenues, so more taxpayers is essential.

Our corps need lower cost labor to compete globally, & by taking over Mexico....voila...lower cost labor. We're already moved large amounts of automaking there, to lower labor costs.

Mexico also has a lot of natural resources; Gold, oil, natural gas, Copper, Zinc, & other minerals.

Mexico also has vast farmlands, & a climate conducive to food production, which is why we did NAFTA...to tap into that food source.

The USA is already paying to protect Mexico militarily, so why not get more out of that investment?

I believe Mexico will be annexed, & become a part of the U.S...it's already underway, most are just not seeing it in that light.

Put the border at the south of Panama. Go from that border up and wipe the cartels out. Slave labor, tropical breezes and breakfast tacos for everyone.

There are 10.7 Million Mexican born people in the USA right now, & its likely under estimated.

I dont think DC's interested in Honduras and Guatamala, but they'll take the free future taxpayers.

Have you considered the alternate possibility? Mexico is slowly annexing the U.S. via the advance forces that are overwhelming the border.

Yes, those too, however a lot more Hispanics are breaking bad (Right) than the Libs ever thought possible, so they shot themselves in the foot in thinking they'd be getting all of those votes.

The unholy alliance between U.S big biz and big gov't is impossible to resist. Both of them want what Mexico has, so they're just taking it, w/o declaring any official annexation. The legal proceedings wil come later, bt the takeover essentially began w/ NAFTA, & not securing our border...on purpose.

This helps the top 1%, & hurts the rest of us. Our wages will remain stagnant, & taxes will rise to pay for all the free stuff the illegals are getting.

This.

Spend some time in Socal, and you'll quickly see that you're in North Mexico.

The "Reconquista" movement is in full swing here.

America doesn't control Mexico anymore than how the beckoning call prompts that nation to conduct itself on the world stage in the interest of American international hegemony. Of course with the dynamics of geopolitics shifting into a more multipolar globe they may start to gravitate away from the USA in some respects. They certainly don't have America's interests in mind when it comes to respecting its individual sovereignty and this has been an ongoing problem since at least the early 1900s where you had Texas rangers surveying the southern border for migrants.

We don't need Mexico as they've become a source of superfluous redundancy when it comes to migrant workers. Greater efforts could be made to entice natural born citizens to work, the bulk of which is comprised of formerly lucrative construction and service sector jobs. Besides that I was under the impression that technology was being hyped as the avenue of the future and that automation would eventually render many of these lower skilled jobs moot for humans. What purpose do migrant workers serve in that scenario then? Replacing a population that is already being economically supplanted by robotics allegedly?
