Green Car Congress: GM Cancels the HUMMER H1
Good riddance and not a moment too soon - in fact they're way late (naturally). Pictures of it will become a shorthand symbol of the ugly excesses of the Bush Admin, in histories of this time.

Except the first civilian Hummer was sold in.......................1992.
GM bought American General, the original manufacturer in....1998.
Former President Bush can be blamed for a lot of things but the Hummer really isn't one of them.

I look at Hummers and wonder why people need them when a real truck would do. But these are mostly upscale suburbanites that wouldn't need a truck anyway.
But the most laughable folks are the urbanites who need the Cadillac Escalade as a status symbol. To each their own. I see people driving around in put put smart cars and laugh at them, these people are only out to make a statement as well.

anyone who would drive a smartcar is an idiot. a honda fit only costs a couple grand more and gets better fuel economy.

Hummers just about reached their peak during the Clinton years.

I would be much happier if we kept Hummers, but maybe instead cut off all the power to San Francisco and Hollywood. Would be much better for the environment, and much better for America.

Why the Escalade? How is that different from a: Suburban, Tahoe, Denali, Armada, Pathfinder, Pilot, Sequoia, Expedition, Excursion, etc, etc.??

And while we are at it, why is everybody so pissed about Hummers, but don't seem to have any problem with Toyota's environmentally irresponsible FJ Cruiser, not to mention their atrocious MPG ratings on full size pick-ups and SUVs?

Its because the envirowhackos pinned the Hummer as the symbol of selective outrage and since Toyota came out with a Prius they were let off the hook.

If someone works hard and can afford to purchase such a vehicle, then why should you really care about what other people do with their money? After all you have no right to judge others because they own a Hummer. You sound life a person who believes your liberal views should be pressed on others. You are not America. You are just another socialist dictator who only sees one way, your own. Punish those who work hard, that should be your motto.
