It seems like different parts of the USA are becoming ''Balkanized''and wonder if like the Roman Empire will break apart to and form independant countries...I know that Quebec in Canada is trying to do that. Even northern Mexico hates the southern part as they call those Mexicans ''Chilangos''....

The only feasible way I could see this happening is due to the Aztlan movement. If future estimates are correct, then it is a possibility in the next 30 years, but admittedly a narrow one. In reality I would think that we would become a North American Union before we balkanize, which would eliminate all borders and sovereignty for all North American countries, including the US. I hope neither becomes reality in my lifetime.

I don't see it happening. What is far more likely:

By the 22nd century, most Americans will probably be speaking Spanish and/or Chinese.

The state of our economy right now is terrifying. Our debt, the fact that hostile states like China and Saudi Arabia own huge chunks of our debt, and the fact that manufacturing and industry are now mostly overseas enterprises is very, very scary. Add to that China's vast military build-up over the past 15 years, and you've got a very scary situation.

The comparison to Rome is a good one, but I'm afraid that this time when the barbarians run over the hills, it won't be armies. It will be accountants.

Bull poopy. ^

harry o, I have spoken at length about this on these boards.. my civil war thread as an example. There has been talk of Texas leaving the Union, heck there was a big movement for it at one time.. what was that kookoos name that said that Texas is not part of the union.. he stated that we never signed a treaty or something. Forgive me I am tired, worked all night and have been running around with the wife.. I am very brain dead at the moment... But anyways.. with the influx of hispanics into the country, whites moving away from the border areas hoping to get away from the problems they bring.. and the growing hatred toward hispanics mainly in the form of illegals.. the recent poor blacks being up rooted and planted in other metro areas after Katrina, has challenged many people of all backgrounds in ways they were not ready to be. We have many angry people in the country.. all its gonna take is a leader type who says all the right things, to stand up and rile the people into a frenzy and we will have the beginnings of a hate war.. or the beginnings of a civil war, and that will also breed a hate war... either way I dont see a peaceful end to the problem.. Well lets just say it will get much worse befroe it gets any better.

May 2008 the Real ID card goes into effect, and there are people that say its similure to Nazi IDs.. Passport laws have already changed and will go further next year. So there is a wall rising around America.. more to keep us in than others out, so it appears.

I dont think the states will leave so much as they will be lost in this war brewing in the country. I mention the Aztlan people, canse once we start fighting amoung our selves they are gonna also get in there and take advantage, as will hate groups.. and it will become a mess.. while the world watches in disbelief.

I for one would love for the USA to just annex Mexico. remove the border, make them all stand up to the same standerds as the rest of us. hey there is some nice beach property down there I would love to own. =) Look up Tampico Mexico.. its a very pretty city.

I feel like I am babbeling.. so I will call it quits for now.. and come back when I am less asleep. =)

According to me, this won't happen. Thanks for the map, but I'm not concerned about Mr. Truxillo's theory. I could say the world will blow up tomorrow, but obviously everyone will think I'm crazy. His theory is to far fetched to consider.

We have a huge National Debt, no one cannot admit to that. But, we have the lowest unemployment rate, poverty rate, best salaries due to living management(yes this includes Socialistic Countries such as Italy and Sweden). The economy is far from terrifying.

Yeah, I think if you wanna be accurate about the map, you need to include a few more states...

Well if there ever was a country like that, it would just become another corrupt Mexico, a Mexican puppet state.

Non-hispanics would flee to America, and that country would quickly fall into third world staus. And the flood of illegals may just continue.

But that economy is built on sand. The United States has become primarily a consumer culture and service industry. The only industry in the world where we still compete is the movies. Our manufacturing base is all overseas. Even what few remain (like Toyota plans in Tennessee) are actually owned by foreign companies. Most of our ports are owned by foreign countries. Farming exists primarily as large agri-business corporations who remain profitable only by large government subsidies.

An economy built primarily on consumerism is not healthy. You have to actually produce something to give your economy a strong base. When our economic system rewards investment over labor and production, we are in trouble. And that time is now.
