Gee, one of the Canadians I know had a hip replacement - not wart removal. Saw the denial letter from Canada - said that while they appreciate the discomfort, it was a "necessary" procedure so, they would not pay nor allow the procedure at the government hospitals.

Hence - the patient came to the US (Phoenix) - had the procedure, and paid for it themselves -

Seems silly they would not approve a joint replacement -

Oh well

Well I don't know, I don't have the same mistrust of government that people in the US have. Up here for the most part we feel good about our government, we don't always agree with them but we don't see them as the enemy.

House calls, probably the same place free food samples went at World Exhibitions.

I actually love visiting canada. I feel that the people are much more friendly. the government in the US likes to police the world and take everything over. your country is laid back. once you deal with enough of the BS here in the US, you get annoyed.

Well that is strange because I have an aunt that had a hip replacement about 5 months ago and it was covered.

I'm from Ontario and our healthcare is provincial. That could be the problem but I really can't see a hip replacement not being covered. Perhaps you could post the denial letter, with name crossed out of course, or at least get the province and I'll look into it.

Well, when we finally do single payer here we'll have to allow that now won't we?

I'm wondering what the cost of private American insurance that would pay for that would be? I'm wondering how much problem one would have getiing an American company to pay for such a thing. I suppose it depends on the insurance company---some would pay and some would stonewall you.

Yes we are laid back, maybe too much, we sort of expect the goverment to do their job and we forget about it and get on with life. For the most part there is no problem. We don't make a big deal about being free, we just are. Except maybe that grass is still illegal but I can live with that.

Well, you know, the US always had that extended family feel where you took care of one another. That seems to be lost, we still have it somewhat in Canada but it's going away fast. 'Every man for himself' rather than 'Can I help you with your load'. It is a pity.
