Yes, it is all a matter of priorities, isn't it? I have certain values and am very happy with my lifestyle, wouldn't want a huge house and a huge car, even if someone gave it to me for free .

So if I deeded you a castle in Ireland, you would turn it down?

I'd sell it and buy a small cottage and open up an animal sanctuary with the rest of the money

Yes...but again...you CHOOSE to live that way. When the government, through taxes and regulations, forces you to live a particular way it's wrong.

Very noble, but I suspect that you, like me, despise big houses lacking aethestics but would not mind one, such as the castle, that had really nice aethestics.

Ireland is very expensive. They have the living wage there. Trust me, it is not as conservative as you think although it is very religious.

As for the alcholic comments, well, they just handle their drink better than everyone else. They may be out drinking till 2am, but you can damn well believe that they won't be late for work the next morning.

It depends how big this castle would be? Less than 1500 sq. feet? I'll take it .
On the other hand, I have always dreamed about opening up a vegetarian bed and breakfast. So that would be the perfect setting! So, if anyone has a castle to give away in Ireland, please do send me a PM !

as far as drinking I think the Scottish are probably the olympic winners at that.

I drank at a bar one time with a bunch of Scottish UK airforce crew who flew a Nimrod and those guys can pound down the booze!

Nice guys, couldn't understand every word and the kilts lol,but they know how to cut loose that's for sure.

The bartenders made a killing that night.

About socialism and firearm rights its interesting because I have debated Irish,Scottish and Brits and while some Brits were supportive of socialism and guncontrol some were conservative and angry that the government has become big brother but most Irish and Scots were rabidly anti-capitalist and anti-gun.

Which is strange considering the history of England using force against the Irish and Scots.

Some Irish told me they don't believe in open capatalism because of something to do with a potato famine years ago but honestly I don't know that history.

The potato famine was more about landed-gentry and a system that supported it more than it was about capitalism.
