I've read some strange stuff on here...but this takes the cake for the most outlandish post I've seen.
Hallelujah and Amen! This should have happened a long time ago...two adults who love and are committed to each other deserve the right to be married to one another. It's a basic, simple concept. Whether it is two men, two women or a man and a women is rather irrelevant. Just because there are a handful of bigots out there who oppose equal rights, does not negate the fact that such rights are deserved.
Marriage isn't a right. Its a social contract between a man & woman. You people act as if folks are persecuting gays. This isn't about equality, its about reality.

Your post implys you know very little about the benefits of marriage.
For example, one partner can carry the other on their insurance, no questions asked. When one partner is in the hosptial, HIPPA requires that a family member be the one information is released to, marriage allows this to be the partner. When a same sex couple has children, they can BOTH be considered the parents with regards to the school, to getting and giving medical information, simply being authorized to using the family insurance and getting medical treatment for the child to begin with.
What if one of the partners dies suddenly without a will. NOW if they are married, the persons posessions go to the spouse, just like it happens with married people.
I could go on but you get the idea.
I fail to see how any of this hurts what man/woman marriage has. It broadens the definition, it doesn't in any way take away from what men and women have. IF what men and women have is so sacred why is the divorce rate at almost 57% according to some sources. Keeping in mind of course that the few states that have allowed same sex marriage have LOWER divorce rates.
Isn't the REAL threat to marriage the divorce rates, the spousal abuse, the use of children and assets of the marriage against the partner in an angry divorce?? Isn't that a MUCH bigger problem here?
It doesn't broaden the definition, it changes it entirely.
IMO this has alot to do with the high divorce rate. Not homo marriage in perticular but the lowering of values in our entire society. Its a direct threat to orphaned children & children given up for adoption in the hopes of a better life.
Marriage predates most of the economical benifits these people are bitching about anyway. On the one hand people say its ok because of love & other crap but when you get right down to it its greed plain & simple. Its a group that wants something they dont deserve & are willing to bend reality & truth all over the spectrum to get it.
But, really, its not a big deal, just another sign of liberalism & its total denial of reality.

While I agree with the fact that Americas values & morals are down the tubes, its just the natural course of events when treat every outlandish idea with kid gloves & are afraid to offend people.
These people are not evil. Just different & while thats fine I see no need to cater to them to the degree that we seem to be headed for.
