Well for me this is NOT about religion in a public school, of course based on how public schools are set up, thats innaprorpriate.
I don't BLAME christians or whoever about this. There are wackaloons of every variety out there. That should of course be dealt with based on has this man gone outside the rules for his job, pure and simple.
My BIG concern here is that this man did something to his kids that left marks on them. Thats IT, pure and simple.
I HATE to think what will happen if my daughter comes home with marks left on her by her teacher. I just hope someone catches me before I do something to land myself in jail.
I fully admit that I can be out of control when my daughters safety and well being are in question. I am a single parent and I feel the responsibility very heavily on my shoulders.
I should at least be able to trust that a teacher isn't going to BRAND her for gods sakes. Its not like she is a peice of live stock. What he brands on her isn't the issue.

When that happens, more often than not we end up blaming the groups we personally dislike the most, which leads to solving problems based on personal biases, and not the facts of the situation.

That was exactly my point in my response to lovesmountains post. I don't know if you misunderstood and thought I was going in the other direction or what. I agree.

Might want to look up scientific theory. ID is simply made up stuff.
Do you ever go to an MD? You might want to thank science and the scientific theory for that.

Probably shouldn’t be burning the skin? Are you serious?
Probably? Get a grip here. That’s assault, but I guess it’s ok since it’s in the sign of your god thing.

If he did that to my kid he would need to say some powerful prayers to get my size 11 out of his rear.

The story comes to mind from a long time ago here in Southern Cal. Seems a family of four was kidnapped in the marina at Long Beach, forced below deck on a moored cabin cruiser, bound, gagged, and read a non-stop harangue from the bible for hours each day. They were force-fed garbage from the dumpster on the pier, and beaten occasionally with a hose.
After nearly a week, the teenage daughter finally managed to crawl to a phone booth, the family was rescued, and their captor hauled off the the nearest 'loony bin'. Why had he done it?...According to police detectives, it was "To cleanse them, and to DRIVE THE SIN out of them".
The moral? Nutcases are bad...but give ME a religious nutcase any day of the week. They're a LOT more colorful than those 'secular nutcases'...(besides SECULAR nutcases aren't really nutcases so much as "people with ISSUES")....

Unfortunately when someone experiences mental illness to that degree, there some subjects that they seize on, a pre-occupation with religion seems to be one of them. From what I have read and seen myself, its not one particular religion over another. AND in people who were not religious at all prior to the mental lapse.
AND I am not saying that anyone who is religious is crazy. Or that there is a higher occurence of insanity in those that are religious.
I want to know what the police would do if I branded my daughter with our home phone number? It would after all be useful. How fast do you think I would be in jail and deprived of custody of my daughter.
