Democrats are calling for nationalization of the oil industry. Do you feel the government should also nationalize America's farmland.

Actually, a lot of the political mess surrounding offshore and ANWR drilling could probably be defused by following the "Statoil" model (the one used by Norway to initially tap its own oil reserves). Place reserves that are currently off-limits into a "national trust," and charter a public utility energy corporation to recover the oil, with all profits either going into reinvestment or toward the federal budget, and with the oil directed for sale to domestic refineries only.

This would sidestep a lot of the holdups surrounding this issue, and would dodge the matter of all the shady, bribe-paying relationships that the big private oil companies all have with unsavory regimes like Equatorial Guinea or Nigeria.

Remember Enron and the west coast power blackouts? Criminal! Corporations and big business are uncontrolled and affect the nations economy through their actions. Self- regulation doesn’t seem to be a factor on how they operate with the best interest of the nation in mind.

Are more Enron type companies needed in this country?

I am politically active because I am a patriotic American! I am a socialist because that system is far more protective of individual rights and more economically productive than either communism or fascism.

The natural monopolies should be owned by the government. Busineses should be limited to small size and market economics. I would like to break up, for example, Wal-mart and Archer Daniels Midland.

Yes, it might be beneficial to 'Americanize' the oil and healthcare systems, to give the power and price control to Americans instead of corporations. Farms - no, but I favor eliminating the farm subsidies that pay farmers not to grow crops.

Gregw how about electric, rail, airplanes.
Why stop there how we regulate what you eat, how long you sleep, how much energy you use and what you watch on TV. You know programs on TV could be much better if we just nationalize the Entertainment industry and the news. Lets nationalize the internet in fact I think it would be best if the government controlled that. After all to many people are having thoughts of their own. If you ride a bike we will need extra police to montior your use of the helmet and if your tires are rubber or the new environmental tires approved by the government. Nationalize cell phones make sure they all offer the same service after all we want it all to be the same right.

Hey GregW show me where the price of oil would drop if the oil industry was nationalized. In fact I think it would go up. First they would increase the tax on it for Global Warming, which in the end would mean they wouldnt find any alterinative solutions. They would also add more additives to the fuels to make it safer for the environment.

gregw where do did you get these ideas from, college or school. I know you didnt just think of them yourself. These are the socialist and communists ideas and you live in Where again?
