He's no legal scholar from what I can tell. He didn't even understand a major component of the 1968 GCA that would show his claims of gun stores shutting down is absurd (because those gun stores couldn't sell handguns to DC residents no matter the laws of DC, as federal law stops them from doing so).

Because there are no dealers IN DC!
As a result, they're looking nearby, and because of the GCA 68 regulations banning sale of a handgun to anyone outside their home "state", they are automatically being refused.
For the natives on the other hand, its business as usual. I was in a gun store after my range visit weekend past and I could have walked out with one that day.
There is one commerical gun dealer I've heard of in DC, he does not have a storefront but operates out of an office, in the past servicing the exemptions that have always existed in DC law for security guards and cops.
You have an absolute right to have whatever firearm you want.
