George W. Bush now appears to have claimed the most powerful office in the world by blocking a court-ordered recount of votes in Florida that likely would have elected Al Gore to be president of the United States.

A document, revealed by Newsweek magazine, indicates that the Florida recount that was stopped last year by five Republicans on the U.S. Supreme Court would have taken into account so-called “overvotes” that heavily favored Gore.

If those “overvotes” were counted, as now it appears they would have been, Gore would have carried Florida regardless of what standard of chad – dimpled, hanging, punched-through – was used in counting the so-called “undervotes,” according to an examination of those ballots by a group of leading news organizations.

It turns out that the thousands of demonstrators who protested Bush’s Inauguration were closer to the truth when they shouted at his motorcade, “Hail to the Thief!”
It's Official Gore Should Be President
oh please

so some nut case says if you count the 'overvotes' (ballots that had votes for both bush and gore) and counted them towards gore, gore would have won.....

liberal math

gore lost..EVERY RECOUNT SAYS SO

There are thousands of sources, so don't be so obtuse. C'mon...own up...just because you're a Bush fan, in the recesses of your mind, you have to ask yourself the question...who the hell can condone stopping the counting of votes? What sense does that make? How was that fair and balanced? And why was the Bush camp so fearful of recounting? Dubya did not win fair and square and this is just another piece of his atrocious legacy.

It's Official, Bush was properly Elected despite Democrat attempts to steal it.

The court you mentioned, that attempted to interceed in the process defined under the Constitution's grant of absolute (plenary) power to the Fla. Legislature, was the State Supreme Court in the State of Florida. Again, under the Constitution, which gives absolute jurisdiction to this subject matter to the legislatures of the states, that state court had and has, absolutely no jurisdiction whatsoever over the matter that was then at bar.

As a matter of fact, NO COURT has jursidiction over this subject matter at all, any more than any court has jurisdiciton over a Congressional Declaration of War, which is another example of plenary (or absolute) power.

The US Supreme Court brushed back those unlawfull attempt to grab jursdiction not granted by the Constitution and leave the Constitutions absolute grant of power un-molested, i.e. with the several state's legislatures.

You lose.

Class dismissed.

Seeing what a bitter resentful nutlog this windbag has become makes me shake my head in wonder that anyone doesn't agree that we dodged a freight train sized bullet when Gore lost (fair and square.)

I agree, we dodged a freight-train sized bullet with Gore, but go slamed by a Oil-Tanker sized bullet with Obama, who makes Gore look almost appealing.

Well for starters, we would not have been entrenched in and bankrupted by two freakin' wars.
