I can't understand why our government and military leaders are so hell-bent on persecuting our own troops more than they do the enemy.

I just heard that another Marine in Iraq is being charged with murder. He was a sniper who killed an insurgent that was trying to plant a roadside bomb, and for some unbelievable reason, his CO is putting him up on murder charges!!!

Sounds a lot like the trumped up murder charges against the Marine platoon in the so-called Haditha Massacre.. the one where Rep Murtha called the Marines 'cold blooded murderers' before the facts were even known. All those Marines were subsequently cleared of charges.

Can you imagine what cases like this must be doing to the morale of the troops?

How can you fight the enemy and provide force protection if you have to be worried about being brought up on charges because you killed an enemy insurgent with 3 bullets, when some prosecutor thinks you should have only used 2!!!

Can you imagine how World War II would have turned out if we had leadership like this back then?

If anyone should be brought up on charges, it is the commanders and JAGs who are prosecuting these cases.
