Default Surveillance Cameras in Metro Parks????

I wanted to get anybody's opinion on the decision by the Metro Parks Board to install surveillance cameras in metro parks. They have agreed to install them in a few parks and will more then likely install them in all the parks. Does anybody think that this is Big Brother watching your every move? Is this right for them to be able to do this???

I can see from an ideological stand point that one might feel as though it's an infringement on personal freedoms. From a safety standpoint though, I have no problem with it. I don't plan on doing anything illegal in a park, so I consider it a good thing.

I am sorry, but I think Americans are all being brainwased with this 9/11 crap! It just has gone way too far! I am totally against the infringement on privacy! Let us put it this way, where does it stop? What about cameras in your neighborhood? what about cameras in your bedroom? I mean , if you arent doing anything wrong, there is nothing to worry about , right?
Why cant people look after their own selves instead of needing tax revenue generating , power hungry city officials to tell us what we can do ?

Let us say I want to break a few of their stupid rules and have a few beers in the park with my girlfriend and "make out" one night? This is technically against the rules, but nevertheless, I feel this is my freedom as a human being on this earth! now you will have roscoe becow train pulling up with his lights on treating us like we are terrorists or something for wanting to enjoy nature out of doors in the wilderness. I am sorry , but I am not falling for it
! this country is becoming too tightly controlled and strict. like boot camp or something!

Since when has being in a public park become a private activity. It's no more private than pumping gas or ordering a double whopper at Burger King and you're on camera there too. Do you complain to the cashiere at Tiger Mart that your civil liberties are being taken away?

As for your hypothetical(since you seem to enjoy what if scenarios so much) drunken hedonism you're afraid wont be able to happen if there are cameras watching. Here's a what if for ya. What if I take my 8 year old niece to the park and while I'm using the facilities someone decides to grab her, but no one sees the guy or the car he's driving. If there are cameras there's a good chance he and his car are on tape. They issue an amber alert and she has a chance of being found. If There aren't any cameras The chances of finding her are zero to nil and she's most likely dead within twelve hours. So you'll have to forgive me if i put the chance to save my nieces life in front of your God given right to knock a few back and make out with your girlfriend in the park.

I am sorry , but a gas station is a totally different setting then a trip to the park for me. I see it as a setting for relaxing and enjoying my privacy .
I can understand your point to a degree. I dont have children, but I think you should quit watching the filth on the news so much. Most people are not like they are portrayed on the news. It is a tactic the government is using to legitimize the taking away of our right to basic privacy, freedoms and ability to lead lives which are outside of somebody with a stupid ego 's control. It is people , not just like you, but people that are hypnotised by this "everybody is out to get everybody "attitude that is causing the rest of us to lose our mental health, so we become lunatics as well. The constitution might as well just be chucked in the trash because they are taking away each right that was ever guaranteed by that piece of paper one or two at a time." Let us say "
is just crazy. What is REALITY man?? Throw your brainwashing machine out on the curb!
