Yeah, they all came back missing America. They all said it's full of prostitutes and people who refuse to work.
Gotta be honest, I have no reason to go there. I will someday though.

Sounds like your friends couldn't hack the culture after all. Do you really think "taking in culture" means finding traditions and customs that are only different in ways you find acceptable?
Europeans find sexuality much more acceptable than Americans---and why not? They are mostly Christians and find that the body is a vessel God gave them to love and be proud of. Culturally, America is much more conservative on that end. In some places, merely showing a leg or thigh too much will gather public gasps and stares.
On the contrary, Europeans are much less tolerant of violence than Americans. While we have violence and cursing on TV almost every day, they censor out many things that we consider harmless--blood, punching, fights, etc. They consider it to be unnatural and barbaric. Which I suppose--it can be.
If a European as closed-minded as your friends came to the US and reported back to their colleagues that America was just a barbaric state full of bloodthirsty brutes, would you think that's a fair representation? Of course not.
I highly suggest actually seeing the countries in Europe with an open mind than jumping to conclusions from hearsay. The latter makes one sound like an arrogant ignoramus.

Actually, the greeks and the irish have some of the highest church attendance rates in europe. Also, a few countries (Germany, for sure) have taxes that support the church. Aside from that, Europe is very secular.

I would not move to Scandanavia because it is too cold and I do not have enough money. I think Tuscany is one of the garden spots of the universe. If much of Europe is goung wrong why is it so difficult to get into?

Read the leftist/pro-European rants on this thread. If you were European, would you want to import these people into your country?

I'm extremely glad the majority of the people on CD are fringe members of society.
And yes God does exist and the sooner Europe figures that out the better.
For you cold hearted animal haters.. watch Animal Cops sometime on television. If you are still ok with animal torture then please move to Spain.

Dude, I hate bullfighting, it's archaic. I also hate animal slaughter, animal torture, anything evil against animals. However, you're grouping 2 events involving animals in Spain w/the whole of Europe. You did know that is in Spain where those events take place, right? Spain is a country in the continent of Europe...does that help you at all? You're view of an entire continent is extremely limited & shortsighted. I suggest you get your conservative butt to another country stat & start living other cultures. This society is not the end all to be all. Oh and by the way, god does NOT exist, at least not for me & millions of others & I like it that way. Please provide your proof of this fictional character, along w/santa & the easter bunny. Until then, go open your mind to something different, you might actually enjoy it!

Oh that got me a good laugh....let's see here, have you ever perhaps SEEN hunters???? A huge majority of them are fat, idiotic redneck drunks. Falling out of their tree stands, accidentally shooting each other or other people or dogs, etc. because they're so trigger happy they thought it was a deer. Yeah, hunters aren't drunk....you are SOOOOO deluded!!!

Of course, hunters and fisherman typically aren't drunk and don't torture the animals.. they typically swiftly kill it. We all, also don't dance around and cheer for it as culture. Yet, I still think it's wrong if not used for food or population control.
|
???? I think you believe what you want to and rationalize facts into your belief system. Haven't you seen the hunting and fishing magazines? Cabelas? I'm ok with hunting if done legally, in many parts of the US it IS THE CULTURE! This is not a Europe vs US thing.

Hmm, enjoying life instead of dying of work-related stress, having an automatic month vacation, oh yes these are such hideous aspects of life in Europe. Oh yes, these ideals have been in place for how many years now & I don't see the collapse of Europe happening anytime soon. Seriously, go grab a clue & get back to us.

Up in brew town, sure. I mean, whos not drunk in WI? Of course, if I lived in cheese counry, I'd drink myself under the table too . All kidding aside, the vast majority of sportsmen in this country treat hunting with the responsibility, and respect that it deserves. Sure, many are fat rednecks. But that doesn't mean they don't respect and understand the killing tool they're carrying.

Nice stereotypes. I've never done anything you mentioned and I'm into hunting, mainly for meat. Also trapping for fur and meat. Most people into hunting I know are not like you describe. But the dumb and dangerous ones do attract a lot of attention in the press. You still shouldn't be making those generalizations.
