The wide availability of Plan B (hopefully we'lll never be like Europe where they are sold OTC just like Tums) only sends the message that young people can just sleep around and have sex for fun without any consequences.
Tom, have you heard of Freud? A lot of his methodology isn't completely accepted in modern psychology and psychiatry, but his ideas on sex and violence are pretty on the mark in my book.
Europeans have not created perfect societies - far from it. But they have fewer unwanted pregnancies, fewer abortions (abortion laws are stricter in most European countries than they are in the U.S.) and fewer incidences of STDs. They also have less violence in their societies (and it's not because of gun control). Why? Because they're comfortable with sex as a normal human act that has a purpose beyond biological reproduction. They're comfortable with it and their societies deal with it as such. Freud argued, with much more sophistication than I could hope to here, that sexual repression leads to violence. Do you really want more violence?
Hays Kansas is hardly Phnom Penh. And too, privately owned pharmacies are becoming a thing of the past so really, this whole debate doesn't have a whole lot of time left in it.
You are right that not everybody has cc to order over the internet.....hadn't thought of that.
Still, one thing to understand about rural America is that almost everyone has cars. You have to, there is no public transportation. So, if you don't have a car you certainly know someone who does. That forty mile drive is literally nothing for someone who lives in the hicks. In fact, from what my dh and others I know who grew up in these tiny towns say they wouldn't go to the town pharmacy anyway..... no way to keep your business private there! They go to the town forty miles away or more. The whole argument is pretty moot.
I would assume the girls who would need Plan B on a regular basis know who they are and those who live in "small towns 40 miles from the nearest city"...they can probably just put it on their shopping list on their weekly errand run into town
A Pharmacy has the right to not carry these medications - deal with it.
If you don't like it - don't come back to the United States
LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! If she's a single mom I'm sure she's already learned her lesson and is no longer sleeping around, eh? If not.....well......

SO, you still have not answered the oft asked question.
ARE YOU A VIRGIN?
If not, are you a $lut just like the girls you talk about?
