I didn't read through the whole thread, so this may be redundant. If so, I apologize. I believe there are laws on the books allowing a pharmacist not to sell something s/he feels is "against their religion", but they are supposed to direct the patient to the nearest place that does see the medication in question. I have had job interviews as a nurse where I have been asked if can care for a patient getting an abortion. No one wants to hire someone who can't carry out the company's business. I think the employer and the potential employee have an obligation to clarify just what the job duties are before hiring or accepting a job. Someone like Tom Lennox should ask if he will be required to dispense BCP, Plan B, etc before working someplace. |

Religious beliefs or not, you have a job to do you do it or go work somewhere else.
Should a catholic hospital be able to turn away a heart attack victim because he's an atheist? They can always direct him to another hospital 40 miles away, right? |

And what about all the poor LDS bartenders? Do you even tip them, Mr. Lennox?

There are laws on the books that people do not have to participate in abortions, for example, if it is against their moral code. I think most would agree that reproductive issues are a little *different*. |

I think people would rather she'd get her plan b to prevent the sperm and egg from meeting rather than she go get an abortion or even worse end up like one of those who end up throwing her newborn in the trash. |

[quote=Katiana;4388877]No, but I agree with those who say that is a different issue. The atheist patient will have to abide by Catholic customs when in the Catholic hospital, e.g. a cross in the room, perhaps meatless Fridays in lent, etc...QUOTE]
I gave birth in a Catholic hospital but afterward, had to go for a separate procedure for my tubal ligation at a different hospital (rather than having it done when I was cut open anyway for the birth). A pain, but what can you do? |

. Private pharmacies can adopt whatever practices they want, but it isn't the perogative of their employees to act differently, and the pharmacy should get on their case for it. Like if any salesman continually refuses to sell something to customers, the manager has the right to fire the employee. |

What the heck did I just read from that Tom Lennox character? Did I miss something? Why would anyone have seen a picture of him on the internet, like we would even know who he is! Too weird.
