A teenage daughter of a friend of mine was prescribed birth control pills, she is a virgin and plans to remain this way for quite some time, but she happens to have serious endometriosis and the doctor prescribed her the pill to limit the number of periods she would have and the severe pain she would have to experience few days of every month. So, if this teenage girl were to walk into your pharmacy and hand over her prescription you would refuse to fill it because you would assume she is a ***** and needs to be taught a lesson? And given her tender age, that would give you extra pointers, well done!
I've already said that I won't refuse to fill a prescription, only perhaps refuse to give out Plan B if the local and state LAWS ALLOW IT. I know the difference between PROFESSIONAL DUTIES and PERSONAL BELIEFS. I'm just posting to express my disgust at today's society and social trends. Its very stifling living in such a radically liberal part of the country as someone who is not left wing. I think a lot of you need to see the rest of America outside the urban centers of the Northeast and the West Coast, you know, the majority of America that Barack Obama disparages.

I'll say it again, I WILL NOT REFUSE TO FILL ANY PRESCRIPTIONS (given I become a retail pharmacist and not another pharmacy field). And yes I know there are other reasons for birth control pills but so many people I've seen are college age and YOUNGER and their parents say for it. I don't like having my values and beliefs disparaged here. Maybe y'all are okay with the majority of teens being sexually active and not knowing the seriousness of being in a relationship. Maybe to some of you moral values don't mean anything. Maybe some of you believe a sexual relationship is something facetious that doesn't require any kind of responsibility. Maybe you think its okay for your high school or college age kids to just go out and hook up with random guys, or to use sex to move up the corporate ladder when they're in the "Real world". I really don't know, but I have my beliefs and my values. I will not let that interfere with my job. Satisfied?

Educating children does not equal giving them permission.
OH, I think Tom expects just the girls, he hasn't said a word about the guys yet.

In service industry (and working the pharmacy is a professional service) it's often a bit of a 'power war' between a service provider and a customer. It feels good to know that you are in charge, that you are in power to deal and to refuse because as the service industry's motto goes "customer is always right". Working in any type of service industry be it professional or unskilled often involves having to look at your customer as someone in position of power over you, after all your business and your boss are there to make sure the customer is happy. So, what's better than to give yourself a nice excuse to 'feel in charge' feel important like you can tell this person behind the counter what to do and what not to do. And hey, it's not just you wanting to feel good, it's your religion, who can argue with that? And of course, the customer gets pissed, but how can you be fired when you should be provided a 'freedom' to exercise your religious beliefs everywhere and anytime even if this means humiliating someone. I am sure that woman who gets refused her birth control or especially 'morning after' pill (that would imply the 'doing') would really enjoy getting chastised by her pharmacist in front of the entire line of other patiently waiting customers.
I'm pretty sure your the kind of nasty customer who is always very rude to your cashier or your waiter.

Actually, prerogative is the correct spelling. Best to check a dictionary before getting snarky.
LOVE the word Snarky!!

Yeah, nobody is all one or another are they? Well, maybe Tom

Yeah, I've asked him what he thinks about guys buying condoms...nothing. I suppose no big surprise there. Most overly religous people tend to put all the onus on the woman while absolving the men of all blame. The guys just can't help it, can they?

I'm thinking maybe a soft lilac????? My son and his family are Ron Paul supporters but I think they are now going to vote for Obama just because they are afraid that McCain will be another 4 Bush years and they don't want to take a chance. Me.....I honestly don't have a lot of faith in any of them at this point. I've lived long enough and known enough politiicians well enough to know that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'm libertarian in much of my thinking but can not get past the idea that public schools are something that should not be supported. Oh, and I am for universal health care too so that really puts me out of that loop. I'm just hopeless. I've never joined a political party...or even a church...though I go every Sunday. I guess I will always find some merit on "the other hand." I served on our local board of education for a number of years and managed to disagree with every faction at one time or the other. I guess I will just have to vote for whoever scares me the least this time.

This is exactly why I think the two party system is SO wrong, and needs to be abolished. More people should think for themselves, instead of being sheep.
