So do you all think Bush would sign this HR bill if it gets to his desk? He said in the past he would sign a new "assault weapon" ban if congress gave him one....

So when I say "registration" that is what I have in mind as an ideal solution. Forget all these individual state permits and having to reapply state to state. Maybe I feel this way because we have had to do it 4 times and each state is so different with the laws and then the logistics of staying within the law. It is blasted annoying.
I've often wondered, why they didn't make CCW an endorsement on your drivers license? Nobody has ever pushed that. Plus, in most states, if you have a CCW or are carrying, you must inform the officer up front. Not in my state though. As soon as they call in your license, dispatch let's them know you are possibly carrying. I've been stopped and the only thing the office said was, "I noticed you are possibly carrying, I'm not going to ask for proof of CCW, I already got that." But he never asked me to place it on the dash or anything. Just gave me a warning (illegal lane change, care pulled out in front of me and I didn't signal. haha) Course, he didn't see the other car.

I think he might just "Not" sign it because the Dems do have the advantage. He might have signed it before just to show bipartisism.

Maybe a way to ensure that bush doesnt sign a new bill; we should be alittle more involved? How many of you belong to the NRA or the GOA? or have written your state reps? I hear alot of this "talk" about how they aint takeing mine. What are you doing ahead of time to fend it off. With over 84mil gun owners only 5mil are nra members. seems like alot of people are lazy motormouths. We are right now faced with the biggest threat weve had in along time. and more is coming. Nuff of my rant.

Life member. Craig Thomas is in my email address'. I write to him often even if it's just to say, hey, I liked what you said on such and such. Course, in a state that is only 500,000. he's got a smaller audience.

I know what you mean. There's a bunch that scare me right now. Very interested on what's going to happen for the next 2 years.

Your main problem is not Hill and Bill it is the people in there right now slamming this stuff through. Your gun totin (but take 'em away from everyone else) Chuck Schumer and gun hating Feinsteins of the senate..if you focus on the house and senate not getting such a bill to Bushy's desk that is the battle.

DH is considering joining the SAF especially now that I showed him this latest bill. They have a link to contact your senator and representative right on the site. They are at: saf.org

It would be nice as this presidential campaign heats up to get the info on the canidates gun policy. So far Rommney does not sound too promising.
