Anti-Abortion religious group was holding up graphic signs on a major road–What do you think of this?
Today I went out to run some errands, and a religious anti-abortion group was holding up graphic signs of dismembered fetuses on the side of a major road. There was absolutely no way to avoid seeing them. I was disgusted by this, and my first thought was, is this legal??? I mean, anyone who drives down this road is unknowingly forced to look at these graphic images, children included. Whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, do you think this was appropriate? I'm curious to hear people's responses.

I imagine it's probably legal but in poor taste.
There are many other ways to express one's views and positions than forcing them in another person's face.
I believe it's counter-productive, in fact pi$$ing the "audience" off and making them that much less receptive to any ideas one might be trying to convey.

Fruity Loops
Must be nice to be able to spend your days on the side of the highway holding up graphic signs. The rest of us poor schmuks have to work.

They learned quickly from the left how to do this.

There's a protest like this on my campus every year and the debate is repeated. Freedom of speech, they can hold whatever signs they want.

I see this all the time outside abortion clinics, even festivals. Yep, those wackos can even justify protesting at a festival. They're all idiots, they have nothing better to do w/their time. Either ignore them or flip them off or better yet, ask them if they'll take care of your baby? That should shut them up.

So you are obviously disgusted by abortion, which these pictures depict, correct? Truth is messy and ugly sometimes.

This isn't about whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, its about what is appropriate to hold up on a major road that many people, children included, are forced to see. How would you feel if you had to explain those disturbing images to your young child?

Well, people have a right to protest. I have no problems with this so long as it's a passive protest.
I have a problem when people block roads, damage property, invade public buildings... as that tramples on the rights of others. But holding up signs showing disposed of fetuses may be gross, but not invasive.
