With unemployment numbers like this in Milwaukee and similar numbers in other poor urban areas do we realisticlly expect unemployment numbers like these to produce large numbers of marriageable Black men? Black family formation and stability is connected to male employment. Yes we need more responsible fathers but they also need a steady income which many poor Black males lack.

Blacks have all of these poverty issues but when you look at our spending we spend Billions of dollars on so many products. The problem is that we don't have enough Black owned businesses to capture enough of those Billions. The Black dollar benefits non Blacks more than it does Blacks. Our dollars barely circulate once before leaving Black hands. Other people's dollars such as Asian's circulate at least six to eight times before leaving Asian hands because they have the businsess to capture their dollars contributing to healthier communities economiclly.

I understand completely. We started a "Black Friday" shopping day at work and most black employees did participate. We made certain that we went somewhere on this day to shop or eat at a black business. If we heard someone talking about anywhere different-we would give them a reminder of what day it was and where their monies should be spent. I tell blacks to make sure that they seek out insurance companies, auto shops, accountants, etc. and to do business with them if they can. The complaint is usually that blacks charge more and then I have to get into teaching about economics and why it may cost them more. Let us not forget the crab barrel mentality which still exist for many.

The first night will cover Black women and their families and the second night will focus exclusively on Black men. I have decided I will look at it and hopefully will be spared of the many ongoing negative images that perpetuate the stereotypes that continue to dominate anything good that needs to be elevated about black people that are doing quite well here in America. Not saying that they did not or do not have tremendous obstacles and trials to endure along the way. It is quite sad to continue to hear about the subculture, yet there are not many media outlets nor people who speak to those common every day folk who are successful, but they do exist and they work extremely hard and are educated. I have a girlfriend who is viewing the live showing this evening. The previews look quite interesting.

While looking at the previews I saw one which speaks to a White woman who finds out when her father is about to give up the ghost (his earthly home)-that he is a black man. Fortunately she handled it very well. Nothing like the love of a father no matter what color he is. What can I say??

I'm confused.

The woman finds out only now that her father is dying, that he's a black man?

I assume this is because he has been unknown to her, all her life, until now when he's about to die?

Maybe I'm confused, because your next statement "Nothing like the love of a father..." doesn't make sense to me.

If I understand this correctly, this is not the love of a father; this is the desperate guilt-ridden attempt of a dying man to clear his conscience.

Unless of course I have read your post wrong...Help pls?

The website about the program has been posted. Her father raised her-oh how we assume that all black fathers our absent. WOW!! He kept it a secret, but revealed it upon his death bed. He looks white, just like my grandfather did and I finally found out that he was white instead of being a cherokee indian as I was told most of my life. That makes my mother biracial. WOW!!

Well for those of us who have been loved by our fathers no matter what color he is, we daughters tend to love him no matter what-unless there has been some abuse and even then some of us will still love them-but possibly from a far distant. Although her father revealed this confession upon his death bed, it did not disturb her to the point that she doubted his love for her and nor did she love him less. The love of your earthly father is priceless. I had mine, and this is why my heart bleeds for those who are without the love of a DAD!! He made a sacrifice by not telling her. If you look at the preview you will see that he would not have been recognized as being a black man.

I wonder if some of the "disturbing trends" in America examined will be blacks attending churches were they learn the government created AIDS to kill black people and that AmeriKKKa had it coming on 9/11 and that black people should espouse "black liberation theology" and should hate their own country.

as a business owner i know for a fact that if you come in wearing pants off your butt, a shirt that would fit andre the giant, and boots without your laces tied.... you will not get a job. however if you come in with a nice pair of khaki's, a decent shirt, and a great smiling attitude, you will have a job in 2.3 seconds. it doesnt matter to me if they are white, black, asian, whatever. im tired of the kooky people saying that white people are still holding black people down. it just isnt true for the most part. black people are holding themselves down by wallowing in self pity.

what happened 150 years ago is deplorable. you will get no arguement from me, but how long are you going to wallow about it? never forget what happened, always guard for it happening again to any race and stop it if it starts, but stop complaining about it. most of the stereotyping is not true, i know this. i have a ton of african american friends, but remember its guilt by association. i have been searched, tested, searched, tested, and searched again because my brothers were low life white trash drug dealers. i myself was college educated and started my own business. moral is, you are responsible for you.

Your morals do not represent mine. I was not created to just be responsible for me. I believe and maybe it is the way I am wired and taught to be responsible for others as well. I for one will invest in others to help them be responsible and in turn I would hope that they will do it for someone else along the way. When you stop making mean spirited comments about black people I will stop complaining. We both know that will never happen. I am not complaining about being owed anything because I too have worked very hard to accomplish what I have in this life. Until America is free of racism-which will never happen-blacks will continue to have additional obstacles and trials due to their skin color. In addition; they will continue to talk about it, shout about it, write about it, and sing about it. Just the facts.

Who said that all white people are preventing blacks from moving forward? Just one not doing it is enough to complain about.
