True. However "progressive liberals" can be 100% patriotic without supporting the current donkey's running of our fine military into the ground.

Im not making this about about Bush vs liberals.I am talking about the fact that people have pride in their homeland and just because a foreigner comes in and sets up a government more to their liking they have a good chance as seeing them as invaders more than liberators because they are being force fed something.
Sure there will be a certain amount that would go along with a invader but for the foreigner to assume they will be seen as liberators is naive attitude.
As much as Conservatives and liberals disagree stepping on someones pride will make them set aside their differences and unite to expel the invader.Same for other cultures.

I guess the oppressed in Iran don't have a 2nd Ammendment of sorts in their Constitution.
I can understand why the mullahs probably won't be writing one any time soon.

I agree with you 100%. It is obvious. Anyone seeing their country attacked will get pissed off about it.
I just wanted to clarify your initial wording that "even a certain amount of progressive liberals would get a bit peeved" if the U.S. were attacked.
Being an armchair neocon quarterback does not make somebody any tougher or braver than the rest of us Americans.
On the contrary. Walk the walk, then a person will earn some real respect.

"even some" well there is still the fact that those favoring a new government would be more receptive to the invaders,I think if the UN set up a socialist government the liberals would be more inclined to support but certainly thinking all would is a mistake I think.
Now,Afghanistan,I think we did right going there because the Taliban were in bed with Osama, but we should get rid of them but not linger around to change everything because that will create resentment from those who may have at first been happy to be rid of the Taliban but start to resent foreign presence over time.

And maybe it is the threat of being nuked into the stone age that is driving them out in the streets.
