Why do we have stupid online polls?
Honestly people,
Why do we have so many threads with stupid online polls. Doesn't everyone know that they're unscientific, and therefore meaningless? I don't even bother to reply to them anymore.
Does anyone agree with me out there?

They are only useful in establishing (if written in an honest and objective manner) what the people on this board think generally. Past that, I agree with you.

Actually, I disagree with you.
If you are looking for valid "external" sentiments they are useless, however they are useful for folks to vent and discuss.
Posters enjoy the process, and this is supposed to be a fun activity. Everyone here chooses to participate, and it is just part of the discussion process.
Much of what is exchanged is a mix of anger, frustration, insight and banter, and this is just part of the process.
OK by me!

Personally - I find them fun. No one suggests they are scientific. I find no such requirement -
Relax and have some fun

some polls are dum because they are skewed or lean towards a particular direction. and because the options are limited. it seems that C-D has been invaded by the mindless masses who ruined topix.
very few of the polls are unbiased. that is why they are not very reliable.
scientific? arguably yes.
faulty? but of course.
do they show how ignorant US citizens can be? most definitely!!!

You could always start a poll to find out!
(P.S. Yes, I do agree. There are quite a few that don't actually make any sense at all so how anyone is supposed to make a choice is beyond me).
