DC is trying to keep a ban on semi-auto handguns. If Heller brings in his gun they will likely try to confiscate it at the minimum. This will probably be back in court very soon. As the SCOTUS ordered DC to allow Heller to register his gun, if DC refuses, they (the leaders of DC) can be held in contempt of court and imprisoned indefinately until they comply with the ruling in full.

Yes, but even DC knows it will take years to get this back into court, and lots and lots of money. Its not "exactly" the same bill, so it will need refought through the courts all over again..

Its simple really. The NG should be sent in to restore the rights of the people.

What needs to happen is we all need to write our congress & ask them to addres the issue. This is rediculous.

Might not be too long in Heller's case since DC is ignoring a decision.

Technically they are not ignoring a decision. DC wrote and passed a new gun law on July 15th, supposibly which DC now things does not violate the Supreme Court, and the law. The new law will need to be challenged in court just like the previous law was.

In the decision the court quite clearly ordered DC to allow Heller to register his gun. They are not doing so. The new laws will be challenged in other cases I'm certain but with heller as far as I can see it's a matter of going back to the court informing them the decision has not been obeyed.

Yep,
Its the gun they let him use as a security guard, its the gun they refused to register originally that caused him to take them to court, its the same gun they ordered DC to allow him to register as long as he wasn't disqualified for legal reasons.

I think people should be getting arrested. That public officials can simply ignore the court & laws does not bode well for any American, regardless of his/her position regarding guns.

The decision of the Supreme Court was a great victory for us - or was it?
