Semi-auto handguns outsell revolvers by a big margin these days...DC's ban is dead on arrival. And the courts tend to dislike people playing games with their decisions, so DC is just digging itself a deeper hole...maybe they'll end up held in contempt or something.

It is a ploy that is used by anti's specially in other countries.
They might not ban it outright but they make rules and regulation so intense that it becomes virtually impossible to be accepted by one.If you have to apply for a license, and the local government can just bury it and have open right to decide "who needs one and why you need one" they can virtually deny everybody. Same with licenses and taxes, make it so high that even it is legal to own one it becomes virtually impossible to afford one............. Some countries deny ownership of any firearm if the caliber it uses has ever been a military caliber, and just about all calibers have been used by the military at one point even if they haven't used it in over a 100 years. |

This may in fact mean that the court may go even further to ensure that staes follow their ruling and give gun owners even more defined rights.

Not to mention the court of original jurisdiction for this specific incident would be the D.C. circuit meaning the precedent would not extend any further than Washington D.C. unless an Incorporation theory is argued successfully all the way through the Supreme Court. Not likely. *Incorporation Doctrine = common-law doctrine that enjoins certain elements of the Bill of Rights upon the states. |

Sounds like a new law getting on its feet with a bit of bureacratic nonsense thrown in. I would bet Mr. Heller will have his gun registered by the middle of next week.

would any red blooded American actually surrender their constitutional rights to some **** ant local bureaucracy? I see no reason to follow such tyrannical laws and I have no regard for them.

The part that amazes is me is that they still want the legal guns to be disassembled or have a trigger lock. I thought the decision was pretty clear that those regulations did not allow for reasonable self defense of the home.

Hopefully they will keep pushing and keep up their tyrannical nature so we can show them what the 2nd amendment was designed for.
