I am not a fan of paying for abortions either. I am more a fan of personal accountability. That said I can't change the world or the fact kids discover that they like to have sex. I don't like that planned parenthood feels that its okay to pass out birthcontrol to minors and not tell the parents. Contrary to liberal beliefs parents have a right to know what medication, drugs are medical attention their child receives. Once 18 or out of the house its private. Besides I struggle believing anything Nancy P says. |

I don't want my tax money going to contraception, either, something I also believe is immoral.

You cant not know that its a common Democratic desire to create more gun control & scoff at a persons right or need to use a gun to protect themselves.
![]() That said I'm fairly ambivilant about abortion. If people want to kill their children because it'll make their lives unbearable to have them, its just not my buisness & I dont care. |

In all seriousness, I'd suggest that, without regard to party affiliation (if any), those who work for some sort of limits on guns are motivated far more by a belief that tens of thousands of annual firearms deaths and more than two hundred thousand annual fireams injuries are an awfully high price to be paying for these things than they are by some sadistic desire to scoff at the rights of those who choose to own guns. Indeed, gunowners could earn themselves a lot of good will if only they would recognize that, like all others, this right comes with responsibilities, and those responsibilities include that to pitch in with the process of trying to minimize the damage that firearms do to people on a daily basis. Instead, they tend blindly to oppose any such effort and reject any sort of limit as if the annual carnage and suffering caused by guns were perfectly alright with them. This creates an unfavorable parallel to rabid anti-abortionists, a group that senselessly opposes nearly every effort to reduce an unfortunately high incidence of abortion. There is a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. There is a Constitutional right not to be pregnant. We would still live in a better world if fewer people were killed or injured by firearms and if fewer abortions were performed. Why can't more progress be made toward these ends?

Okay, let's look at this constitutionally. Abortion is currently a federal issue. If Roe V Wade were ever to be overturned, it would make abortion a state issue. Therefore, a state such as Illinois would never outlaw it while a state like Indiana probably would. Furthermore, if Bush passes this, he will have done so with a house and senate controlled by Democrats. Perhaps this is part of the reason Congress has a -230 approval rating?

Just that thats NOT how a free society operates is all. Thats more like a Nazi Germany thing. Theres so much wrong with that attitude in a free country I cant believe you are serious. But anyway, if a thing is constantly the focus of broader & more stringent legislation mostly brought on by frustration due to the fact that earlier liberal gun control has not had the desired effect it becomes obvious that public saftey is not a goal. Pacifying a clueless constituency is. Theres alot I dont like about todays fake conservatives & Republicans. But as long as the bleeding heart liberal democlueless folks keep making gun control such a big issue I might not vote Republican but I damn sure am NEVER going to vote Democrat. If Bush signs it he signs it. No biggie. Some day when a worthy Democrat crawls from under a rock somewhere that can get elected you all can switch it back. Sadly I believe this go round will se McCain in the whitehouse. |
