Another, reason you keep on hearing about missile defense. I am guessing US is really trying to get it working so that when Iran does Nukes and missiles they won't be as much of treat as they could be. Would be kind of disastrous for US foreign policy if Iran had nukes + missiles and US had no way to stop them.

I agree.
No one thought we would be in Iraq 6 yrs . Our troops in Iraq have given Iran a buffer .
If we hit Iran they would return fire by targeting our troops in Iraq they know every station we have there .
Their missles can reach them not to mention who knows what would happen inside Iraq with the Shiites . I think their last show was to show they have the missles to reach us in Iraq it had nothing to do with Israel.
We have missle defense bases there but some will get by . Unless they can take them out or most first I have no idea how that works.
I feel Israel would have hit Iran yrs ago atleast the time they hit Syria if it wasnt for our troops in Iraq.
The administration has warned them not to the General in charge of region has warned them not to but in their case how long do they continue waiting and I am not sure VP Cheney and others wants to continue waiting to much either.
Every GVMT is doing what they should be doing. I cant fathom Israel waiting much longer but who knows what will come out of these talks USA and Iran might be having.
The General in charge of the region does not want to hit Iran and has stated so .
Which was amazing.

A threat- made mainly for domestic political consumption- is not "agggression" no more than many of the threats that American politicians have made against Castro and Cuba are "aggression". They were made to curry favour with Cuban voters in Miami and most of the politicians that made them are long dead and Castro is still alive (but not kicking).
If you recall it is Iraq and Saddam that attacked Iran and started that war. Not the other way around. It was a proxy war Saddam launched on behalf of the USA. That is like saying the American "human wave" attack on the Germans at Normandy was "aggression". Actually we had less of a case because Germany did not attack us.

If the rest of the world that has nukes has to be part of a program why shouldn't Iran? What makes them special that they get to have nuclear energy but secretly do so. Nuclear plants have lot's of dangers (three mile?) Why would they turn down information from people that already have nukes and have mastered (or at least gotten good) making power facilities.
Not to mention nuclear waste....What are they going to do with that?
Does anyone think it's a good idea for Iran to have the ability to make nukes and not have the rest of the world know about it and where they are and when? They have made it very clear they don't mind selling stuff to countries of questionable character.

Kev iis correct. Iraq attacked Iran....
Israel has made it a common practice to attack her neighbors at the slightest provocation regardless of the fact they themselves often provoke the neighbors actions to begin with. We allow Israel to have nukes thus underming what little credability we have in the region.
The fact that Iran is more than willing to supply terrorist orgs with just about any weapon they desire is the real threat. The fact that Israel makes no secret about their intentions towards Iran and muslems makes the situation all the more tense.

I actually agree with that but the more the world- and us- issue threats to them, the more they will hide it. I think a better method would be to say "OK Iran, you want to join the nuke club, welcome" since it is obvious they are going to do it anyway and that, despite the threats of Israel to bomb it, even if they do they have a low probability of suceess.
And then say "now that we have welcomed you to the club, we expect you to play by the clubs rules which includes IAE inspections of your enrichment program and that you safely use this technology". And then we sshould actually shock them and offer them assistance with their program. After all they say they are doing it for electrical power, right? So we should be OK with their program and even offer to help them with it! Then they would probably see no need to make bombs out of the material.

That's exactly what we have tried. Part of that is them allowing inspectors in....which they aren't doing. If they did we would do all the things you listed.
Why won't they allow inspectors in? This is exactly the way Iraq went down with one exception. They have made it very clear they are after nuclear something....

Oh yes, the missile defense, anyone figure out yet the purpose of it?
Why on earth did we develop a missile defense system "to protect Europe" but yet we have to negotiate and beg Europe to even let us put it there? Who in Europe ever even asked us to protect them?
The Euro missile defense is nothing more than an excuse for America to continue to spread its imperialism in any way it can and to insure the continuing of the foriegn policy of trying to be involved in every aspect of countries affairs.

These are all great posts, I might add, but ahhhh, we are not planning to invade Iran because of some bull**** nuclear disarmament.
Have you all forgot Saddam's non existent "wmd's"? Nothing found, because we all know it was a lie to "we the people" and the world. Most of the world knew it was a lie, but it has taken Americans a 8 trillion deficit, $140 a barrel crude, $4+ gas, all goods across the board increased, and the American dollar's value declining. And the Bush/Cheney dynasty with their hands in everything. I think most Americans should have figured out the racquet.
The planning of the invasion of Iran, as Iraq, has nothing to do with wmd's or nukes. Both countries were/are not going to trade crude for U.S. dollar exchange. Iran wants/is to convert to the Euro, and also wants all of opec to follow. This very action would collapse the U.S. dollar overnight.
