Now, you say that you can say anything you want in this country (USA) but yet I hear people get in trouble all the time for saying the wrong thing in public. Maybe not jail time but if a public figure, call somebody the N word on TV they will be in a world of trouble.
On this forum for example you are not allowed to say anything you want. So honestly, is freedom of speech only going to save you from jail and thats it?
This is ridiculous. I have a homosexual friend who enjoys making fun of the extreme "gays" who are disgusting in their meddling and attitude. Church and state should always be seperate. Telling the congregation what the Bible says about homosexuality,or the opinion of the Pastor should not be subject to Government regulation. It would be a different story if the pastor told the congregation to bash gays but warning them about the homosexual lifestyle is part of religion. Is he supposed to approve of a lifestyle that his religion knows as a sin? This whole thing is disgusting.
Then the church should lose any tax advantages it may have.
Not just that church building and parish/congregation, but all of that denomination.

That's wild! Don't they have freedom of speech there? I'm Black but I would never want some tribunal saying people couldn't discuss or criticize what they don't like about Black people or Black culture and I wouldn't stand for anybody gagging me like that either. So much for Canada.
No freedom of speech in Canada, it actually goes even farther than that, he can't e-mail his beleifs, thats absurd, If I was a Canadian I would be worried.
I am glad he will stand up and not apologize.
I know it isn't exclusive to Canada, but aside from the weather, it's the only other thing I know of right now that I dislike about Canada.
And a previous poster had a good point--that has just about nothing to do with homosexuality and everything to do with free speech. But the OP is baiting.
Wrong! When you establish that anyone who disagrees with homosexuality must be a hateful, intolerant bigot,as many of us on this forum have been labeled, then what happened in canada is just the next logical move! Throw in a couple of activist 9th circuit court judges and you get the same thing in frisco!
Does free speech include inciting violence against gays? (Fire! in a theater?)
If churches try to affect laws and politics shouldn't they lose their non-profit charters and pay taxes?
