I hear these terms use everyday. But what exactly is a hispanic person or a latino? Is that basically a person who has black and white ancestors who spoke spanish. How else can you explain why in one country for example in latin america. Brazil there are white looking latinos, lightskin, brownskin, and really dark latinos all in one country. I think there is a reason why every italian doesn't call themselves white. Why do some italian and hispanic women. Have body shapes and hair color more similar. To black women in the united states than white women.
The same goes for people who call themselves asians. Why are some koreans and chinese more lighter skin. But people from india, and the phillipines are darker skin. There is no such as race. Only the human race. |

Biologically speaking, you are wrong.
There are 3 races classified both by genotype (with a .1% genetic variance, sources vary) and phenotype. In the animal world the would be called breeds, but we humans separate our selves out and we prefer to be called a race. There are three races, negroid, caucasoid and mongoloid. |

Hispanic is a made up term to include people who either have Spanish blood or come from a Spanish speaking country but it doesn't work because any Spanish speaking countries have Anglos, Semites, and other no Spanish in their countries. The same holds true for the word "Latino". It makes little or no sense most of the time it is used. The Spanish (and people from Spanish speaking countries) have a better word "hispanoparlante" - meaning a person of any race or ethnicity who's first language is Spanish. Literally "Spanish speaker".

Skin color has little to do with it as you would think. Aboriginies in Australia for example are not negroid, they are mongoloid, the same race as typical japanese, native Americans and Chinese. The typical Spanish decent hispanic is caucasoid, the same as the typical white person from England. Blacks from Africa are negroid. The sterotypical arab is caucasoid. All names are made up as are words and languages in general, nothing about it was made by mother nature. |
