And remember - this the United States. NOT the UK - we don't want to be like the UK - get used to it - it is different here - and your attempts to "change" the US to "be like the UK" WILL BE MET WITH STRONG RESISTANCE!
Hmmmm 232 years ago didn't we proclaim our independence from the UK? We fought a war as well. WE are not their colony anymore.
The UK doesn't have the big wide open spaces of America. The only people who are allowed to hunt are Farmers and that's on their own land.
So what's the difference? Because its private vs public land?
I'll ask you again: Do you eat meat? Do you wear leather? Do you drink milk? All of those are obtained from a conventional farming industry that has no regard for animals. There are fed things they have not yet been bred to eat , pumped full of anti-biotics because they live in unhealthy situations, and pumped of other chemicals to speed up their growth and production. All in the name of your shoes.
I think it's far more damaging for a person to not be able to understand where the chicken on his plate came from and outsource his killing to someone else that has to do it as a fulltime job.

Maybe it's a cultural thing. Hunting for sport has been banned in the UK because the overwhelming majority do not feel it is needed or should happen. America has a large hunting fraternity and i can never see that changing. I am just curious as to what age should a child start hunting and killing animals. Shouldn't they decide for themselves when they get to an age when they can decide for themselves?
Hunting isn't for everyone. For most who hunt it is about getting out with your friends and enjoying time away from the stress in your life. Work.
We take our sons as our fathers took us and we teach them as our fathers taught us. Some of my most fond memories of my Dad were when we were hunting together. Not the kill just the time we spent enjoying the bond.
I have recently been involved in a thread about a young 10 year old being taught how to Bullfight. This led onto a discussion about children of 7 being taken hunting and killing deer by the age of 9. In the 21st Century can anyone give me a good reason why young Children should be taught and applauded for killing Animals.
My father first took me hunting when I was 8 years old. On my 10th birthday he bought me my first firearm. He only had one rule, which I follow to this day: "If you shoot it, you eat it."
It is more than just teaching children how to be self-reliant. If you are going to have firearms in the home, then teaching children firearm safety is a necessity.
It also teaches children the reality of the food chain. Most city critters would starve to death if their food didn't come cellophane wrapped in grocery stores. They are so disconnected from reality they have absolutely no clue how to provide for themselves, much less provide for others.

Most do decide. Most would like to start as soon as they are old enough to realize that dads going hunting. They want to come too.
What age is best? It all depends on the child. My son wanted to go when he was 7 or 8 but hated sitting around being quiet. LOL Later he just wasn't interested. I never pressured him in the least. Where we live its cold out for Deer season usually in the teens.
Fox Hunting is banned in the UK. I am going to add an article about what killing animals can lead to. Is there much difference between sneeking up on a deer or capturing other types of animals and killing them?
Your link has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH HUNTING!
Do you believe in private ownership of firearms? Do you believe that a person has the right to protect themselves with a firearm?

This is exactly how I feel. The current system disconnects you from your plate. You can open a can of passionfruit juice without knowing what a passion fruit is, or where it even came from.
You can have a piece of meat on your table and have no clue where it came from as well.
Lets not forget how tastey deer meat is. LOL I love deer burgers. Deer steak and fried potato's. Hmmm I know what I am having tomorow for supper if I can wait that long. LOL
