News, Retiree, 77, from Sarasota fights $31,000 cell phone bill.
SARASOTA -- A 77-year-old retiree has won a two-month battle with a cell phone company over a $31,000 bill for calls he says he never made.
More than $21,420 in roaming charges appeared on Oliver DeSofi's Cingular Wireless bill in November for more than 4,000 calls from Nicaragua.

That makes no sense... Are you saying that they shouldn't be receiving phone calls if they're working? Do you not make/receive phone calls, just because you have a job? Anyway, I'm not sure I'm understanding your "logic" here. No, it's not cool that someone got all those calls... but I can't see how that's connected to "doing jobs Americans won't". I guess you're attempting to turn it into an immigration debate, which is kinda stretching it - don't you think? It says the calls were made FROM Nicaragua, so whoever made them isn't an immigrant, or even a visitor... and we don't know who they called, so it's unfair to make assumptions about that too.
Chances are, this was simply an error on the phone company's part... who would call the wrong number 4,000 times? Or ANY number, for that matter!

I am exactly in the same situation. AT&T(cingular) is charging me $1038.28 which I have not consumed at all. my normal usage for a month would be not more than 250 minutes, and that's the reason I had taken 450 minutes plan. But the customer support guys and fraud team from AT&T is not listening to me. have made so many calls and told that they are charging me for the calls that I have not made at all, but still no good response.
If any body can help me in this regards it will be real great relief to me and will really appreciate your help.
Thanks !
-Madhu

Madhustan - have a lawyer review your case and write a letter to AT&T. Worth the money. You should have your last statements to back up your limited use history.
