Odd that "NATO leaders endorsed Ukraine and Georgia's accession to the Membership Action Plan" which is the first step to becoming a member of NATO.
There has also been something happening lately...what was it again????
Ohhh!!!!
Thats right, Russia has invaded Georgia.
You seem to be confused my friend.....USA a is NATO leader, so is France and Germany. USA endorsement is taken serious but Turkey and some other nutcases in that organizations - their words and endorsements are as good as mine: nobody would care what they think or say
Sanctions against Russia??? And what are we gonna do when the Russians cut off the energy supply to our allies over there? Transport some from what's that guy's name - T.boone pickens or something
It seems people are too frightened nowadays to do the moral thing.
REALPOLITIK is how most people think now.
Sad.
The FIRST "right thing" is to halt Russia's advance through Georgia. This would have been much easier if the United States wasn't hamstrung in the middle east. Leaders around the world know that the US is at its most vulnerable, both politically and militarily, than its been in a long, long time. That's why both carrots and sticks from W. are anemic.
The 2nd "right thing" is to make sure Russia doesn't make a move on the Ukraine, which is probably where their sights will turn next. Again, this would be much easier if we weren't tied up.
The 3rd "right thing" is to make sure that we don't start a war that kills us all. Contrary to popular belief, Americans bleed and die as quickly as anyone else.
What's "sad" is the thought among some of us that a club is the first, last, and only way to get things done. And that Americans are supposed to somehow be willing to die to police the world's problems.
