This is the part I agree with you on. All of the examples cited from illegal immigration, to dumping goods and underpricing, to our political environment is due to us (as Americans). Until we realize this and take ownership, we won't see things change for the better.

Smile The War Within

I'm with the posters that answer Americans and/or America as our biggest threat. The terror is from within and is alive and well.

And I don't have a elixir to cure it. The divide between classes looms as large as I have ever seen it and hostilities between the political parties is a reality. The war on the middle class is alive and well and our Gov't. is propping up the penquins to assure it continues unscathed.

The question is what can the average American do about it?
Probably very little, at least legally. The election system seems comprimised--our leaders seem absent from national concerns except for the upper-class and our position in the world is strained at best.

Untill the middle-class recognizes themselves and votes and works for their interests nothing good has a chance. If they realize who they actually are instead of the Tonto of the great elite savior (who could care less about them) and gear their actions accordingly--there may be a slight chance of improvement. But as long as we fashion ourselves with inflated self-value or the next to be rich and famous improvement will be zilch! I remain optimistic.

On another thread, there are a few who think gays are the biggest threat. Perhaps Stop Signs won't be in red anymore. Maybe Lavendar which is definately harder to see,

Lousy poll; too few choices.

The biggest threat to any nation, especially one like ours with such a strong OUTWARD looking defense organization, is from WITHIN.

The Bush administration, with a cast of characters from the evango-fascist and neo-con right wing, essentially trashed our nation morally, ethically, and financially. It will take us at least a generation to recover from their crimes. We've endured eight years of a fascist-like, near police state brought to us by an idiot wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

You didn't include the biggest threat. You know like the people that Obama has surrounded himself with.

too bad your poll does not include the "Federal Goverment".
I for one think that the federal goverment is the biggest threat to liberty and freedom inside the borders of the USA.
