I know both countries also, and Russia is quickly returning to the principles of the USSR. They were not abandoned. They were only put aside briefly because Russia was broke financially. Now they are rich (oil) and the old principles are being resurrected.

Russia IS changing, and not for the better. Hope the Russian people see the light and are allowed to do something about it!

you repeat the word 'USSR' so often I'd say you have been made be afraid of that since you walked under the table in you kitchen. Chill out, man! It dead long ago... you'd better broaden your horizons instead...

you teach people? are they happy about that? ask the mothers whose sons are still laying dead in those 'classrooms'. from both sides.

you must be seating in your oh so comfortable chair and discussing how useful it is to teach people by killing people. Come on! Stand up and get your body in Irak, will you?! or can you? [Mod edited for language]

Sweet! We have fervent Russian nationalism what could possibly go wrong?

Yes lumumba, clearly Georgia is the aggressor with it's tanks pouring over the border and heading towards Moscow. If only I could see as clearly as you, it makes perfect sense that Georgia with it's huge military advantage over Russia would want to start a war with them.

Hmmm....maybe the Georgians have a secret wheapon and have managed to clone the greatest killer of Russians ever. (No, not Hitler....Stalin)

If history has taught us any lessons it's that Russia's biggest enemy is Russia. I have always admired and pitied the Russian people and I don't see it changing any time soon.

This is actually a fascinating subject. First, as an American~my knee jerk reaction would be to retaliate against the claims made by someone from another country. But are we SURE that WE are always given the true side of the story? Seriously, we are the most powerful country on earth, BUT are we really always right?

Lumumba, could you tell us what people in your country are told about what is going on? Why the attack on Georgia? It'd just be interesting to know the other side of things.
