Everyone goes home happy? You have a very selfish view of the impact that unions have on the country. We're paying higher prices at the store, jobs are being moved offshore, we're paying thirteen bucks to see a movie that's not worth five, the children in our country are getting third world educations... I could go on.
Unions once played an important part in making sure that people weren't being exploited. OSHA, plus state and federal laws have rendered the unions obsolete. People are no longer being exploited in the ways that they previously were, and the framework is in place to make sure that it won't happen again. The only purpose that unions serve today is to make themselves rich and drive up costs for employers - which in turn drives up consumer prices. I hope you're happy with your "little higher paycheck" and paying "a little less for your insurance." Your selfishness is having a hell of an impact on everybody, including you.
you are using the union for the scapegoat for rising cost? Do you believe that if we were all getting paid 80 cents a day that the prices wouldn't rise anyway? You say that the government has taken the place of unions, and that has rendered them obsolete. Hmmm, to me I don't think your seeing the forest through the trees. As a Republican, you used to stand for less Government, yet you prefer to have the government fighting your battles. Very interesting.
How is wanting someone fighting for my rights to defend my wage, insurance rates, and safety at work selfish. I love my family, and I don't mind feeding them. Why should I wish for lower wages, just so stock holders (which I have MANY) can make an extra 20 cents a share for the quarter.
My non union countrer parts pay nearly 300 dollars more a month for insureance, nearly 40 more for dental. Those are just a couple of the good things about belonging to the union. I have no problem with the Non union folks paying more fees and getting paid less, hell they fought for the right not to have to pay 39 dollars a month in dues so they could feel self rightous. Im OK with the fact that they are constantly getting screwed by Management. The non unions are usually in the republican red states.
My wife gets paid 33 percent more per hour than her non union counter parts, and thats in the same city, working for the same company. On top of that, she gets about 10 more hours a week. Non union workers get to contribute to a 401K (which the company does not match) and she does not. Thats the payoff they get. WHOOOOOOPIIIEEEEdooooooo. We contribute to An IRA instead. Same difference. Her company is always sending in there Goons to try and talk them out of the union. They are always leaving empty handed. Its pretty hard to convince someone that they could be better off making a third less income.
As far as union workers working less hard:
Because her working conditions are so much better than her non union counterparts, there are large stacks of Applications of qualified people constantly gunning for her job. She is now at the top of the payscale, and her company would love to hire somone with less expense. She has to stay on her game all the time, and constantly show that she is valuable.
If She was making 1/3 less, why would she give a crap about being fired. She would have that application in those huge stacks. I would get a bad attitude knowing that I Pay more fees, and get considerably less money for the exact same job. I probably would not even apply for that job.
The Republicans hate ANYTHING that benefits ANYBODY but the rich. It is not just unions they hate but they hate the EPA, the Dept of Education, the Consumer Protection Agency (I am so looking forward to buying poisonous toys this Christmas for the little kiddies!), Social Security, Medicare or any other program that helps common folks. But at least the Republicans like to build bridges to nowhere so I guess we can all go to nowhere if they win again.
They do continue to vote against there own interest. Its amazing to me that anyone would do this.
Unionization improves the standard of living in countries.
Here is a list of Countries that rank above the US in Human Development Index scores which is a common measurement of standard of living.
Iceland 0.968 (▲ 1)
Norway 0.968 (▼ 1)
Australia 0.962 (▬)
Canada 0.961 (▲ 2)
Ireland 0.959 (▼ 1)
Sweden 0.956 (▼ 1)
Switzerland 0.955 (▲ 2)
Japan 0.953 (▼ 1)
Netherlands 0.953 (▲ 1)
France 0.952 (▲ 6)
Finland 0.952 (▬)
Every single country here has unionizaton rates higher than the US. at 12.5 % ...Sweden is as high as 82%.
Here's the bottom line. America is full of uneducated, and ignorant middle class and poor white men who are not sophisticated enough to vote and organize in their own self interest. They've been brainwashed over decades into believing elitest propaganda that says sticking up for your career and families well being is "class warfare", or it's "communism".
I used to live in Germany during the late eighties. Their unions make the highest quality cars and you could go the whole day without seeing an Asian made car, a time when the US car industry was already beaten to a pulp by imports. Why no asian cars in Germany? Because their unions wouldn't stand for cars being made by workers making $8 bucks an hour. Better to keep the money at home.
So enjoy your cheap plastic sht while shopping at Walmart while you are making barely enough to live on. While the GOP tells you how great "unrestricted" free trade can be. Your kids will be flipping burgers with their cracker jack degrees.
At least you'll have the satisfaction of knowing what a great patriot you are by voting for the party the want's to make flag buring illegal........Suckers

Wow - 85% of American workers are "uneducated" and "ignorant" and "poor white men" (you forgot the women who work). And, these 85% has all been "brainwashed" - Interesting.
I think I will relay this information to Bill Gates and the people at Microsoft - I'll let them know they are all uneducated, ignorant and poor white men!
I say white men ( I'm a white man) because this is still where the power lies in the US. If middle class joe's were not hoodwinked by right wing talking points, we might see some progress in this country. Instead they prefer to sulk and blame their ills on minorities, and gays, and Muslims, and tree hugging liberals...LOL
Check out this website www.hersheyresorts.info This is why we need unions...to protect the American workers rights and standard of life. The unions are the one's who help protect the jobs for everyone. They do this for non-union and union alike and leading this charge is the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
Who said they were the only ones with power? They are nearly the largest voting block next to white women, the most well paid voting block, and the wealthiest voting block. This is a simple fact whether you like it or not.
I'm describing a voting bloc. Soccor Mom's?? NASCAR Dads?

The FACT remains - you allege that those not in unions are, and using your own words; "uneducated" and "ignorant" and "poor white men".
Your assertions is clearly wrong.
