I think while both definitely got a very short stick compared to the white settlers, the clear loser of them all was the Indians.

Slavery is horrible, and we should be ashamed as a nation of allowing it, but it's not as bad as genocide. When you're enslaved, you can still hope to be freed, sing, have a family, enjoy nature, and know you'll have a legacy (which blacks do in this country and Native Americans don't).

The Indians were basically exterminated like rodents. Could you imagine strangers from another continent telling you your way of life sucked, and you had to believe in their God, and follow their lifestyle, or die? If you DID do this, you still might die. White people embraced African American culture, and it's strong to this day, especially in music where it DOMINATES outside of rock. What do the Indians have? Place names? Casinos? Chapters in history books? That's about it. They're foreigners in their own land to people who are themselves foreigners from the other half of the world.

The only reason blacks are seen as being more oppressed is because they lived to tell about their plight. The Native Americans don't even get that privilege.

I think having your land stolen and extermination is more difficult to recover from than slavery, yes.

Afro Americans got it worse them because they could not move around at all. Indians certainly have it worse now because there plight has not changed much in the last 100 years. One had his land stolen while the other was brought here to work it. Both were crimes but as a Afro Americans I have to say the indians have had it worse than me when you look at the whole picture.

Indians had it worse because foreign diseases brought over from Europe and Africa killed off 90-95% of the population. Wholesale "extermination" through war isn't what killed the vast vast majority of Natives, so it's not exactly genocide, but megadeath from germs from which they never recovered, weakened their tribes, and which severely limited their "options" in dealing with settlers.

Slaves obviously had it horrible, but what of the free black slave holder, or the Native Americans who had black slaves? That throws a wrench in the analysis.... so in terms of ranking hardships, it will be: Natives who died out, followed by slaves.

Not everyone's experience was the same.

Which "Indians?"

I notice you failed to both list those "Indian" tribes exterminated by the colonists in the US and you failed to list those "Indian" tribes exterminated by "Indian" tribes.

What are you trying to hide?

I don't think the white indentured servants had it very cushy, either.

Life was tougher for everybody in the past. Rumor has it that it remains tough for many today. Especially in Africa.

Well, it doesn't really matter - the white folks terrorized both of them. In some cases, we can perhaps say, KILLED THEM.

And you fail to mention the white men exterminated by other white men. And the black men exterminated by other black men. ETC,ETC,ETC. All peoples throughout known history have warred amongst each other. What we are talking about is the invasion of the white man and the systematic slaughter of entire tribes of people numbering in the millions. Stop trying to cloud this issue when it arises with your 'Indians killed Indians' defense. Fighting amongst your own people is a historical norm. As genocide happens to be. And that is what happened here to the Native Americans.

There was plenty of killing on both sides.

Knock off the race-hatred. It's demeaning.

native americans werent all exterminated many were just killed in wars, but the spanish by far did most killing of natives in the south west.

Europeans, whether british, then american removed indians from their land(indian removal act) pushing them westward

i also seriously doubt there were over 5 million native americans in north america during in fighting of europeans to the emancipation years for land in the US and its kinda like many mexicans since they are a majority in LA now try to use todays population and say it was the same as yester years
