.
If the government of USA harbored a person who attacked country XYZ, is it right for the people of XYZ to say you deserve every bullet you get? And they would have even more right to, because you chose your government.

That's even worse than fear. At least, fear is rational. That's just revenge. But if revenge gives you comfort and peace of mind, then go for it.

Great idea...at least for the violent criminals. I would even wake up early!

Exterminating the Jews was thought to be a good idea by quite a lot of Germans, too. If you build it, they will come.

What is with these people empathizing with the Taliban?

I am not too sympathetic toward the Taliban because:

1) They violently seized power for themselves and were anti-democratic.

2) They were especially brutal and repressive with their ruling of Afghanistan.

3) They were allied with and harbored several terrorist groups.

4) They refused to hand over Osama bin Laden or even look into him after the 9/11 attacks.

But the US is the bad guy. I hate you people who say such stupid things, it is because of you that I am often mistaken for a conservative on these boards, but when you make it sound like a group of violent, repressive religious fundamentalists who were allied with and were protecting the people who murdered almost 3,000 US citizens, is somehow the victim in all this is absurd. Poor Taliban, they just want to get back to bumming money off of whatever Jihad du jour group happens to be stopping by and sentencing people to death for using paper bags.

And we can save money on retrials for revolving door killers/rapists, and save money on rehab shown not to be effective, AND relieve the stress of our overburdened jail/prison systems. Explain to me exactly how this is a bad thing?
Sorry, but that is pretty stupid.

While I am against the death penalty in practice, I'm not exactly the most ardent opponent because I believe that the majority on death row are guilty and most of those we sadistic, brutal, ruthless, and prolific enough in their actions that if anyone deserves to die, it is them. However, saying thing about how retrials and appeals are stupid shows either ignorance of the legal system or that you are completely unconcerned about establishing guilt and/or innocence (which is why retrials are granted, there may be new evidence).

Yes ,your correct best to allow yourself to get hit over and over as hitting back is revenge and best to be a human punching bag .

It was wrong of us to hit the Taliban we needed to give them " a time out" so they can think about what they did and realize it was wrong .

Please remember that al-Qaida was organized and financed by Saudi Arabia. Now why are we in Afghanistan if not for a pipeline route to the Caspian basin? Our government could care less about the ideology of the Taliban, including the brutal repression of women, so long as the Taliban would let us use their country for our profit.

Because that's where Al Qaeda was operating.

I suspect it makes me less safe because the money we spend on the war against the Taliban could be spent on infrastructure to make our roads and homeland security safer here in America.

You're right. Will you please move there and talk them into liking America. Don't forget to say pretty please......you moron!!!

I for one am for a much stronger presence to eliminate Taliban, and need to do more -soon! Seems like Bush is starting to focus more here - let us give him a cookie.
It is a no-brainer that killing those terrorists will help. I am with some other posters that going to Iraq (unprovoked, un-linked to terror with a fake WMD pretence) has probably backfired on us as we have inadvertently created a longer-term training ground for terrorists, who may eventually be able to reach us. No cookie for Bush on this one.
