I guess the best public universities lead to ignorant people? since you live in the south, how is the racism where you live? I don't see it so much where I live. next time you leave your bubble, go to the blue state of NY. tell me how race relations are there anywhere outside of NY city. grits-cheese steak, what's the difference. enjoy your internet while you can, cause without the south, it would be real slow.
seems to me that it's always democrats in office when we go off to war with the exception of iraq. also, you should have corrected tinman, norfolk is also in a red state.
With a democratic governor, soon to be two democratic senator, and a handful of congressmen, it looks decidedly purple.
Democrat in office when we go to war?
Reagan took us to war, though he had enough sense only to pick on little countries.
Bush I took us to war, though he had enough sense to get others to pay for it.
Bush the Lesser got us involved in two and in Georgia and Iran attempting to start a ciouple more.
not sure what a ciouple is. if you are talking military conflicts, then every president goes to war. say what you want about norfolk, it's in virginia, and virginia hasn't voted democrat since johnson ran against goldwater.

U C Berkeley, U of Michigan, UCLA, U of Illinois, U of Wisconsin. But let not pick some artificial criteria, let's just talk top universities. After all it doesn't cost a dime in tuition to go the Princeton.
Racism where I live? Virtually nonexistent.
I've been to up-state NY quite often. They still take pride in having stomped the South into a mud hole back in the Civil War. Racism -- never saw any.
Internet w/o the South? LOL It's the first I've heard of the South having a major role. It pretty much grew out of work at MIT, Stanford, and U of Illinois.
what artificial criteria? UVA, UNC, william and mary, and I could go on. the UNC system is clearly the best in the country for state schools, or at least the best bargain. racism where I live is virtually non existent as well. it's more black on white racism than anything else. you have never been to upstate NY. you live in a bubble in stafford county. upstate NY is full of racism and rednecks. you think all those deer hunters are liberals? taking pride in stomping mud holes? did you talk to an 8 year old? perhaps you are also unaware of the tech companies in dulles, VA. or the tech industry in the research triangle of raleigh, durham, and chapel hill. do a little research bub, you'd be surprised as to what you might find.

I love it... the blue states can tax themselves too death... everyone will abandon them and then the blue states will be whining to come back for the "benefit" of us all... lol... of course those who abandon the blue states will be liberals who want a better life and then when they come into the red states, they will whine for entitlements and handouts... and we start all over again with what we have now... funny how history repeats itself... those dang liberals always messing up everything... like the liberal motto... "If you can't succeed in life, steal from your neighbors"...
the blue states have been taxing themselves to death and are all sprinting full speed to the south. take a look at the city threads on here. look at how many NC has. there are reasons behind it.

is dulles really red? fairfax county is pretty strongly blue.
research triangle is quite strong but sheer number of companies and size of VC available, silicon valley and pac northwest still rule the roost in that regard IMO.
anyways, this whole thread is pretty sad, its turned into a pissing contest.

It was pretty sad to begin with. The idea of secession being taken so lightly by the OP made the whole thread into a joke from the very first post. They have no concept of the ramifications of such an action.
Like I said before, they're little kids who don't like what the other kids on the playground are doing, so they just want to quit and run home to mommy...
fairfax county can be whatever color it wants to be. it's in a red state. I am sure there are red towns in califorina too. this thread was started to be a pissing contest.
