You must admit, jtur that there are points of sharia law that does not jibe at all with western mores or laws. And my only contention is that no land should be subject to a two tiered legal system. Plus, I also find a democracy legitimizing a religious courts rulings....not good. For anybody. Regardless of the religion.

The arbitrations must be in accord with Western law. Divorces are more than civil cases, they involve legal status, and so can not be decided by arbitration.

And it's a shame, but we're not going to learn from others' mistakes.

I also heard last week an interview with a woman, I can't recall her name, but she is a specialist in sharia finance.

In a super-simplistic nutshell, apparently muslims have money to invest--our banks and other firms need money--muslims say, "if your bank/company will abide by the sharia principles we'll invest there." Bank/company, needing the funding, agrees.

Next step, sharia law. In England, they've already accepted polygamy due to these pressures, not to mention the above article. See, normally people would say, "Sharia law? No way." But since they already have sharia finance there, sharia is a term that's become commonplace so it didn't cause a stir when they instituted it.

There'll be no end to this unless we drop our PC ways and start putting our foot down to keep America's values and traditions intact.

But alas, we're sensitive to the whims and desires of others; our own needs be damned.
I know your right....my theory is...they will never nuke us...they want our land...but they will kill us.

I wondered when I read the OP's post, just how many corporations they own over here, and here's my next contribution of thought..

when 911 happened I could not understand why we didn't close off our borders immediately...why, I thought, this would be the perfect antidote to combate terrorism? I couldn't believe we didn't take any action...I was sure, they would? Nothing...then I thought, well, the bottom line is money...so, it's starting to come to light...many coutries have been bailing corporate America out for years...they buy our banks, our corporations, they can choke us slowly...there are so many of them over here, and nobody has a clue how many, and to add insult to injury, you have these do gooder bleeding hearts screaming for amnisty...they have no idea what so ever, what is really going on. They have been buying us out for years and years...and I doubt very much that we are the strong country that others fear any longer. We are laughed at because we are so liberal and trusting. God, look how easy it was for them to abolish the twin towers? And since then, we are no safer then we were before. American's are really really gullable and live in some fantasy world. Sheesh?

and we're so freakin stupid, they don't even need a Trojen Horse, do they...
hey come on in...???????? Sheesh....

Thank you for a great post....very wise and realistic....

>And the relevance of THIS to Sharia law IS.......?<

>My take on that is that they don't want to live under sharia law and as soon as mom kicks the bucket they're out of there...<

>That was my take as well<

Last 2 people quoted get a "I got a big brain" award.

The couple in question. These are NOT people you want to lose.

He has started 3 businesses. All 3 are still existing and were 2 were sold for a tidy sum. He bought FL condos in 2000 and sold them in 2005 at the peak of the bubble. etc etc etc. He has created jobs. He has a golden touch.

They are horrified at the overall Islamification of GB. Mom is their only hard tie down. (sweetest little old English lady on the planet)

Some country where sharia law is strictly practiced, and the people call for the execution of a schoolteacher who names a teddy bear after mohammed.

And, how far are we willing to go to change our laws to accommodate muslims? Where is the line drawn? Will there be a line?

Don't underestimate the Brits. From what I gather, civil disputes amongst Muslims, can be settled in a Sharia court. Both parties (all of them Muslims) have to agree to it. That saves time and money in the judicial system.

I have more faith in the Brits. Sharia law taking over in Britain or the rest of Europe? I don't think so. Have you ever seen a crowd of British soccer fans in a football stadium? I'd love to see a bunch of Mullahs tell that crowd that they cannot get drunk during a match. I can easily visualize the Brits burning up every Koran they can find. I can also visualize them rolling up every prayer rug in England and using them as suppositories on every Muslim they see. You simply do not mess with an Englishman's ale. Same goes for Italy and Spain. Don't interfere with their vino.

The Muslims in Europe don't appear to have a grasp of European history. The Muslims are going to continue to push their luck until there is a backlash. It won't be pretty. Just because Europeans nowadays appear to be so easy going and PC, doesn't mean they don't have the potential to go back to their old ways. The "Generalisimo" Francisco Franco has been dead for over 30 years, but there are still a lot of Spaniards who actually miss his methods. He was a butcher. If they raise too much hell in Italy, for example, a few of them are going to end up as food for the feral cat colonies in Rome. I don't wish for any of this to happen. I'm just saying let's not forget the past so quickly.
