There are many wealthy blacks who are not Republicans. Some blacks do not like democratic ideals because they champion alot of entitlement programs like low to no cost public housing, cash assistance, food stamps etc.. and they feel that these types of programs can be trap for poor blacks, it does not encourage them to strive for greater things. In many blacks communities some of the worst areas of a neighborhood is usually where there is public housing and people receiving welfare. Please know that most blacks do not vote democratic just for welfare programs, if you are poor would you not vote for the candidate who has promised to help improve your life situation, including better access to healthcare, improvement of poor public schools, greater access to employment and job training so that the american dream is not some unattainable ideal. Also the republican party has a stigma of racism that it can not shake off and that is not to say that blacks do not realize that there are racist in every party, but there seems to be a concentration of them in the republican party.

Why are most successful blacks Republicans? Why are most poor blacks Democrats???

Successful people of all colors want to hold onto the money they've earned with hard work...so they vote Republican. It's just too bad Republican leaders haven't worked harder themselves at spending less and making this part of their message to voters.

Your argument is more a figment of your imagination because they bear little resemblance to reality.

The underlying assumption of the thread is that only 7-8% of African Americans are successful and as a result they are Republicans while the other ninety or so are unsuccessful and are Democrats. Of course the underlying assumption is racist on the face of it because it denies the existence of a significant African American middle and upper class. It is also racist because the OP implies that African Americans sole motivation for being a part of the Democratic Party is because of some desire for "handouts."

Well keep believing that as you continue to demonstrate even the African Americans business class why there is not room for them in the party of the New Confederacy.

Today, I helped a black couple cast off from Bayside marina in Miami (FL) today. They are undoubtedly Republicans - they own their own boat (34' Sea Ray) and they were going for a sunet cruise. They had two pounds of stone crab and a bottle of sparkling wine! How fun!!! Black yachtsmen!!! I love it!!! They were so nice! They are part of the 7% blacks who vote Republican... Hint, hint...... (Vote Republican if you are successful or you are a business owner, only *haters* vote Democrat because they are jealous because they don't have as much money as you...) GO BLACK REPUBLICANS!!!!
Dumbest...Thread...Ever.

So would you not consider the following to be successful black Democrats?
Barack Obama
Carol Moseley Braun
Oprah Winfrey
Roland Burris
And the following CURRENT members of the House of Representatives...in fact, since 1902, only 3 Republicans in the House have been black, compared to over 80 Democrats. Sounds like you're full of it...
Marcia Fudge
Al Green
Gwen Moore
Yvette D. Clarke
Keith Ellison
Hank Johnson
Laura Richardson
André Carson
Donna Edwards
Kendrick Meek
David Scott
G. K. Butterfield
Emanuel Cleaver
Artur Davis
Diane Watson
Danny K. Davis
Harold Ford, Jr.
Elijah Cummings
Barbara Lee
Gregory W. Meeks
Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick
William Lacy Clay, Jr.
Bennie Thompson
Chaka Fattah
Sheila Jackson-Lee
Jesse Jackson, Jr.
Mel Watt
Bobby Rush
Robert C. Scott
Eddie Bernice Johnson
Alcee Hastings
Jim Clyburn
Sanford Bishop
Corrine Brown
Maxine Waters
Donald M. Payne
John Lewis
Ed Towns
Charles B. Rangel
John Conyers

What a moronic thread...

What a ridiculous statement. You obviously have no credibility, or even anything resembling intellect if you say something as stupid as that. So these people just seemed like Republicans to you? This whole thread was started because you have a bias that makes you believe that any black person who eats crab and has a boat must be a Republican...people like you are the reason why the Republican party is failing miserably. You make stupid arguments and cause intelligent people to think "wow, I am not as dumb as those people, how can I associate myself with people as dumb as that?" and then they stop voting Republican and go Libertarian, or worse, Democrat.
