By the way, I grew up in Southrn California and I have moved to another state. Now, I "happily" cling to my "many" guns and religion.

I'm not religious, but I do cling to my guns and will only do it more if Obama gets in. I've been on a buying spree, just in case more bans get passed eventually. Yup, clinging to my guns and proud of it. From my cold dead hands!

Honey, there's a difference between "bitter" and "rolling up your sleeves and doing the difficult but good and morally correct work of explaining truth and reality to a gaggle of thick-skulled lying demonic *******s who want only to hurt and harm others." Have your man explain it to you!

Owning a gun is no more "clinging to guns" than owning a toaster oven is clinging to toaster ovens. Personally, I choose to exercise my 2nd Amendment right to own firearms, so that if any violent nut-jobs come onto my property with the intent to harm me and/or other innocent people (such as dinner guests), I can stop them. I'd rather "have it and not need it, than need it and not have it" -- and I'd rather have my dinner guests alive but shaken, than dead with me having to explain to their grieving relatives why I was too much of a liberal ***** to own a gun so that I could have stopped the situation before innocent life was lost.

And as far as religion goes, I'd like to point out that atheism is a religion, and is no different than Christianity or any other religion in that you are completely and utterly devoted to your own point of view, and deeply and fervently believe it to be true...no matter who and how many may disgaree with you.

Just because you supposedly live in an area of the country where that much money doesn't buy you the most opulent house you want doesn't, therefore, lower that value of said income. At 250k a year you can rent a small apartment, work for 10 years and then retire. Just from saving as much as you can with a 250k a year income you could live comfortably for the rest of your life in most of the country.
You couldn't pay me to live in Ca. I live in Somerset County, NJ. I bought my "mansion" back in 1999 - when I had to qualify for it and put 20% down. And pay two points to get my 7.75 interest rate. (which I had refinanced about 5 years ago to the tune of 5.25%).

At well over 250K with kids and not being an old fart, I am obligated to provide my children with not only the basics, but a college education...because in the past few decades, you need a 4 year degree to get anywhere. That is how I was raised and that is what I will do for mine. I brought them in to this world and my end of the deal does not stop when they turn 18. I'm also counting on not having to take a mortgage out on my house to pay for their weddings. My DH and I call that our slush fund times 3 walks down the isle.

Do you have kids? I'm thinking you don't. If you do, do you invest in 529's? Do you have other college funds set aside for your kids? Do you live in a blue state where property taxes pay for education? Do you own your own business and pay top dollar for private insurance? Do you send your kids to a private school b/c the local public school is in the paper every other day for the gang activity/fights/other bs that the police are called to the school for? Do you have life insurance premiums to pay? Do you invest in your own retirement b/c you don't work for a union but yourself?

Money in...money out. And only to ensure that the kids are/will be ok and given every leg up that I can give them and and the same time to take care of myself (and DH) when we enter our golden years.

Maybe people have different priorities than I do...we have kids. They are our first priority. Now and in their future.

To see people wanting to tax someone who works as hard as my husband does to provide for his family MORE than he already is taxed...go work Christmas day/Thanksgiving/July 4th,....every other damn holiday in a year. No sick days, no days off for birthdays or anniversaries...yep, that's our CHOICE. It's your choice NOT TO. So don't feel that while you sit on your arse and my husband is working to make that extra buck to provide for his family you or anyone else deserves ONE MORE PENNY from us because we get the meaning of what it is to sacrifice not only your "body" to create these kids (if your a chick) but your time spent for the future of your children. While our income is above and beyond $250K.

And if you don't have kids...shut it. You can easily live off of $250k no matter where you plop your arse down and call it "home".

Thank you, I'll be here all week.

From the experts who are big into redisribution, if I make 25,000 a year, how much should the federal government pay me back?

If I make $50,000 a year, do I have to pay income tax or do I get some free money back?

If I make $100,000 a year, do I still have to pay income tax or do I still get free money back from the government?

If I have worked my ass off for 25 years to make $250,001 a year, what percentage do I have to give to the federal government to redistribute to the "more unfortunane" to make them happy?
Still no answer?

Rick Lee and lakerat are dead-on.

It seems these days that a lot of folks have forgotten WHY we became a country. The first Americans were sick and tired of having a massive liberal government control them like dolls -- sick of high taxes, sick of having few property rights, sick of being subject to the whims of unjust rulers instead of having liberty.

So they said "f*** you" to the king, and fought hard (and WON, because of the Lord's providence) to establish a new nation where there were VERY few taxes (and those were very slight), where the right to own firearms was protected as defense against tyranny, where property rights and life and liberty were respected, were traditional protestant Christian morals were upheld, and where the people had some choice in their governors.

So you could argue that anyone who is looking to un-do all that is UNAMERICAN. And guess who's looking to undo that? Obama and the rest of the moonbats. They want to levy exorbitant taxes, institute massive and expensive social programs which take us from freedom to socialism, take away firearms (thank the Lord for the recent Supreme Court decision Heller vs. District of Columbia), force their religious and social beliefs down everyone's throats (I'm thinking specifically of the new California law which forbids public school teachers from using the words "mother" and "father", lest the children of homosexuals become upset); not to mention we have almost no property rights any more, crime and poverty are suborned by the government, we murder babies by the millions (but call it by the more-palatable term "abortion" to disguse the fact that many of these babies are born alive in the operating room and then ripped apart limb from limb and killed on the spot by the "doctor"), etc. etc. etc.

Seems we've drifted back to pre-revolutionary war status. Makes me wonder how long folks will put up with this, until we have another secessionist movement somewhere in the country.

As I've said before, I advocate going back to the pre-1913 status of NO INCOME TAX. If we could discover all the land from Ohio to California, and built an infrastructure in it, with no income tax - we can sure run what we already have without one.
