No but it is just comparing apples to oranges I am happy to be an apple and I will happily follow my apple doctrine...because it is my nature as an apple ( just an analogy)
Then "marriage" between a man and a woman should be stripped of all government benefits and "civil unions" between anyone should be recognized instead. As long as there are benefits coming from the govt for "marriage" there should be no discrimination. If "Marriage" is purely a religious thing, then you can keep it.
As for me, I'm a straight woman in a committed relationship. I'm not religious. At times my boyfriend and I talk about getting married just so we can share health benefits, get a tax break, and be able to see each other if one of us ends up in the hospital. If it wasn't for that stuff, I would never get married. But how can you tell 2 committed people that they can't see each other in the hospital unless they are married and then limit who can marry who? It doesn't make sense.

If the apples all jumped off a cliff, would you consider being an orange?
This is an oxymoronic question, right? Liberals don't seem to love anything except being anxious, negative, pessimistic and pained about just about everything.
Oh wait, they love the trees.
Conservatives are seen as more patriotic than liberals. (unfortunately) But I want to give liberals a chance to share what they love about the US. I know there are plenty of patriotic liberals out there, so please share!
Thanks,
Mackinac
I love my country because it's where I was born. I don't love the government, or the people, or the society and culture developed here.
What should we call it when Britney Spears "Marries" a guy in Vegas then gets it anulled 2 days later? That's more of an attack on "Marriage" than gay "marriage".
Does it really matter what Word it is called? How does that bother you at all?
your analogies are really sh*tty... but I respect your opinion... its just not something I would be proud of.. hate and intolerance is not a family value...but in relation to your little analogy...
if you're an apple and apple trees are the only ones to get water... and you were so lucky to be able to be born in an apple tree... doesn't make it right or ok for you to deny water to other trees because that's just how its always been.... enlightenment takes recognition of issues and finding faults in ideals and beliefs... if you do not see them because you're ignorant and not aware of them... then stupidity is on your side and you just happen to be a lucky idiot and not have to struggle for any equality.. but if you are aware of the wrongs and faults in the ideology.. and still choose to sit in your little apple tree and dictate.. that makes you a bigot...
I love that the country has free speech, even to the point of that speech having absolutely no logic behind it. For instance, some people think that going into another country and starting a war based on false premises is "patriotic", when actually it is nationalistic, fascist greed.
You can't even write two sentences without turning something nice into bad.
Wow...I came home from work and saw all the pages and thought I'd get some good answers. Instead I got a debate on Gay marriage. I got a few answers to my question, but I want to hear from more liberals on why they love America.
here's a related question. How do you feel about conservatives who judge you as "unpatriotic"?
