Maybe they need to imprison their women --- never allow them to see the light of day. Then maybe allahs chosen people can be free from sin. Cause, it's always the womens fault, right?

For all intents and purposes, women in Islamic countries that are governed by Sharia Law are in prison, just one without bars and a jailer! Correction, the woman's husband is her jailer!

"Jailer" is a pretty strong word...how about "her decision-maker"?.... "Mentor"?.."Better half"?....maybe "MUCH better half"?
Are you suggesting that Gloria Allred might not 'fit in' smoothly to Saudi society? Do you think she'd have any comments to make, should her practice ever take her there? Do you think they'd listen?
I wonder if they force the women suicide bombers to wear the one-eyed veil... I would imagine not as since it could hinder their perception of everything around them and cause clumsiness.
How about freeing Muslim/Islamic women for the bounds of religous and male domination? Much better than an eye patch and a lot more functional!
Steve, in all seriousness, you've hit a nerve with me...the futility of preaching "multiculturalism", which I believe is a 'fun-sounding' goal, but beyond the 'flashy' parts, is just plain silly. You can't have a nation or a cohesive group that's multicultural, because cultures are not compatible. You post illustrates this.
In our liberal, secular society, "freeing Muslim women" makes perfect sense...to US. It does NOT, apparently, make sense to these 'oppressed' women....they don't WANT to be 'freed'. Their culture makes their 'bondage' preferable to the 'freedom' we THINK they should want. It's what they're comfortable with..it's what they're used to....and nobody can 'free' them unless they WANT it that way. NOR do the people of Iraq want "democracy". It's alien to them, and we can't "bring" it to them. We can 'take out a tyrant', but we can't MAKE people accept democracy.
You might just as well "free" Catholics by kidnapping the Pope..that way, we'd be "free" of his authoritarian leadership. I can tell you from personal experience, this would NOT be appreciated by most Catholics..(a FEW, maybe...but not many).
Culture is a powerful thing. It shouldn't ever be underestimated.

Just wondering....
WTF! Muslim/Islamic women don't have "mentors", "better halves", they have "jailers" that are called "husbands" and these men have absolute control over the lives of their wives, up and to including controlling the circumstances of their deaths under the sanction of Sharia Law! How about you learn something about the Islamic religion and Sharia Law before you post thoughtless comments!
