This question was posed to me by a fellow employee and it got me thinking.
This all started when we were talking about our upcoming drug tests for work. If we fail (which we won't), we get fired. But those people who are collecting welfare and unemployment get FREE MONEY and many of them are addicted to drugs and use the money for drugs.
Just think of the millions of dollars the US could save by making people who receive government benefits take a drug test like so many of us who are tested just to keep our jobs.
I guess this is just one of the many flaws in our system and it is not going to change no matter who we elect.
Actually, a few years ago they did drug test people who were applying for cash assistance. After this area was out-sourced to a private company, they no longer do them in Florida. I'm not sure about the other states. I totally agree with you that they SHOULD do it!
