Let's stay on the question instead of running off on tangents.

PRIOIR to Obama running for election, what would you consider to be his greatest achievement?

The only response so far is that he is a US Senator.

You know what you can do with your loaded question. Who appointed you Lord High Commisioner of what I can take into account when

deciding if a candidate is qualified????

I'll take into account all their actions from the past up until the present. Thank you.

I don't think he was saying what you could or couldn't take into account when casting your vote. He asked a question - if you don't want to answer it, then don't. Nobody's forcing you to reply.

I answered the loaded question just how it should have been answered. By ignoring arbitrary time line cut offs designed to make his candidate look better. ..LOL

I am rather surprised by your response to a simple and honest question. I am not telling anyone, especially you, how to vote or what to consider in their/your decision.

I do, though, believe that what a candidate did prior to running for president is a very good indicator of what that person will do once in the White House. All of the election year BS does not (in my opinion) tell much about a candidate (because of all of the spin on BOTH sides). So, it is not a loaded question.

When do you think it stopped being a glad handing, back slapping, "tell 'em what they want to hear" popularity contest?

Unless you meant any election, being one of only 100 US Senators at any given time must certainly be considered an achievement.

I'd say attaining the level of education he enjoys may be his greatest achievement as it opens so many other doors.

As I stated in my original post, the question pertains to what his accomplishments prior to running for president.

So far, we've gotten two valid responses to the question.
+ Being a US Senator
+ His level of education

That's a start at least.

Surprised nobody's mentioned "community organizer" yet. Go ahead and add that to the list.

I would truly hope that the American public, regardless of how you will vote (and I empasize that), would base that decision on a person's accomplishments and record, and not soley on all of the election year BS.

We've got a few answers to the question posed and if I was in his shoes, I would be proud of those accomplishments. So, in the jobs that he has held, up to the point of running for president, what is his greatest accomplishment? Anyone?
