this kind of trajedy is, unfortunatly, much more common than any of us would want to believe. The grandchild of a dear friend of mine, whose parents are VERY RESPONSIBLE, LONG TIME gun owners, was killed in an accidental shooting in the home! This is the kind of tragedy that the parents never, really, recover from. There must be a way for responsible adults to have and keep guns for sport purposes, without putting their own, or other children at risk.

I would say there are some risks that are just not worth taking. That father now resides in his own personal hell for the rest of his life.

I hope they don't have any more kids.

I'm on the fence if this qualifies for a Darwin award.
They sure as heck won't be "Parents of the Year."

Really, not demonizing guns or anything but I always think of guns as kind of like loaded mousetraps sitting around never failing to snap when you touch them. Yeah, guns are tools...whatever. But dang, they sure are deadly tools.

Hey USA, lets have a "Buy your kid a gun day"! Should be really cool and every year to celebrate its status as a national holiday, kids should be allowed to stalk the streets looking to pop each other and whoever else they might come across.

Well, you're right about that.

I live in W. Ma and saw this on the news last night.

What a tragedy.

OMG, why on Earth would an eight year old need to try to shoot an uzi?

Responsible adults aren't putting children at risk.
