With apologies to all the Mr. Smiths who have gone to Washington with good intentions...

The entire Congress needs to be sent home, with a no return ticket. 535 new faces in congress can't be any worse than the losers holding the job today.

Agreed!!!!!! And, no retirement! That's a problem, too! Once one of the guys gets elected, they are pretty much set for life...no matter how bad of a job they do.

I'm not sure they all need to go, but I AM SURE that once elected, if they fail to do the job to the satifaction of their electorate, they should be sent home without the "golden parachute". . . and they also should have to live by the same health care rules that the rest of us have to live by! That's one of my biggest gripes!

This post brings to mind the question--Are our Senators and Congressmen supposed to vote the way the majority of thier constituents want them to? Or should they vote the way THEY think is best for the country? We supposedly live in a representative democracy. So it should be majority rules. Afterall, isnt that how they got elected in the first place? But this bailout vote went AGAINST what close to 80% of Americans wanted.

I don't care if they were 'bullied into it' by their party members...I don't care if they are Republicans or Democrats...these people need to be fired right now.

I can't. My congressman (Ron Paul) is running unopposed. Only one name on the ballot. The last time I tried to vote, my congressman there (Tom Petri) was also running unopposed, term after term. I can't remember the last time I had a choice when I looked at my ballot. I'm not an Iraqi citizen, so I didn't get to vote for Saddam Hussein last time he ran unopposed, but I guess it's the same thing.
