It is time to recognize that those who have been Catholics since a young age but later abandoned or watered down their faith, have been lied to.

Let's review:

In the early 1960s, American culture was Christian friendly, the media was Christian friendly. The government reminded us on a regular basis that we were locked in a battle with Godless Communism and that we should be proud of our Judeo-Christian Heritage. Television was worth watching by the entire family, the same with most movies, and music.

1968 Those Christians who respected authority were blind-sided when priests and even nuns protested against Humanae Vitae. But how are you going to sell millions of birth control pills to millions of Catholics if they listen to their Pope?

Send in the Hippies! Free love! (Sex with anyone.) "I don't need no piece of paper to live with my old lady." Smoke dope! Don't trust anyone over 30! Mom, dad, priests, nuns, they don't know anything. Woodstock Nation!

1973 Abortion legalized. Porn bookstores appear all over the country showing graphic images of prostitutes.

1978 The National Organization for Women tells women that they are all victims of the eternal enemy - men. Which is a perfect marketing tool to sell...

1980s No-Fault Divorce. No kids? $75 and you're out.
Porn on cable in motels.

1990s Into the abyss. Profanity and partial nudity on network TV. Porn on the internet. Foul-mouthed shock jocks and rap/hip-hop with more profanity, violence and disrespect for women.

Tearing down the family has been job one. Desensitizing Christians to sin has been job two. Creating an "All Opinions Are Equal and Right Culture" has been job three.

It is time Christians woke up and realized that established Church teaching about right and wrong are your foundation. Not the guy you work with, not the guys in the bar, and certainly not the guy on radio or TV.

Get a Catechism. Read it. Get some Catholic newspapers and magazines and find out what the Church is saying about key issues about living in today's world.

It is also time to realize the TV is not your friend. The movies glorify prostitution, adultery and fornication. The radio is a waste. And there are too many magazines that contain immoral material.

The media is no longer your friend. It promotes atheism and paganism. It obscures the truth. It promotes anti-Christian words and images. Now, 40 years after 1968, Christians are beginning to wake up.

God bless!
