helllll NO!!!! we were already lied to about the original bailout../

come to think of it. the original bailout conisisted of about 700billion and now the auto industry wants to be thrown in the mix of it. so that means 700 billion was not and is not needed for the original bailouts or there would have been talks on increasing the bailout from 700000000 to a higher portion since the auto companies want to be thrown in.

something isnt right

I agree 100%!

I hate to interject an contrary position but...

There is in my opinion a few national security issues that go along with certain basic industries like steel, auto, and aircraft manufacture. I will be the first to criticize the boneheaded decision making and arrogance of US auto manufacturers, on a good day I might even venture up some criticism for their overall labor management policies, but I am very uneasy with the idea of strategic manufacturing resources resting in the hands of foreign countries.

I might be a liberal, strike that, I am a liberal, so I am surprised to hear conservative free market types who are despondent over US dependence on foreign oil clamoring to be dependent upon foreign countries for what I consider to be basic industries.

In this day and age you should not be this ignorant!

It was not evil cars and their oil company over-lords that "GOT US INTO THIS WAR"!!!

It was repeated attacks on us by extremist Muslims that we continued to ignore until we could no longer ignore the attacks!

The Muslim bombing of PanAm flight 103
The 1993 Muslim bombing of the World Trade Center
The Muslim bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon
The Muslim bombing of military barracks in Saudi Arabia
The Muslim bombings of the American Embassies in Africa
The Muslim bombing of the U.S.S. Cole
And all of the vicious attacks on Sept. 11th, 2001!!!!! (Amongst other incidences! The list is much longer, I just listed the main ones!)

That is why we went to war! If it was about oil... we would be taking the oil to help us pay for their rebuilding! Do some research!

If we just wanted their oil, we could simply fly our flag over their soil like Israel does.

Capitalism! I am in agreement with not letting foreign entities control our ability to be fully self-sufficient. But, NO company has the right to use my hard earned money to do ANYTHING unless I personally invest my money with them. The government has no authority to "redistribute my wealth" that way!

The issue has now become... You can't just fund some companies and not all companies in need. What about the mom and pop companies that service a community? Is their need any less great? Why did this company get it and this one did not if they are equal in their need and benefit to the country?

It is our money!! My mother has a failing small business that could really use bailout money... it only became failing after several new regulations were put on her business by the government after 9/11! Why is one private business deserving of our tax dollars and a company that employs many people in a small community not!?!?!?

Because the socialist elite get to decide just what "fair" and "just" are. You are simply an economic tool at their disposal. LOL

Don't get into the whole Christians vs Muslim debate because there are more facts and incidences backing up the problems with extreme Muslims then there are Christian examples... unless you go back to the Spanish Inquisition? And even then?

I was commenting on krudmonk's comment about the evil cars causing us to go to war! So don't give this "ignorant post" crap! Read everything before you make a comment!
